The first thing I would do, to make sure that you are using 2.0 or 1.1 USB connectors is to check to see if you have an Enhanced USB Controller.
Go into your control panel and then click on System. Click on the Hardware tab. Click on Device Manager. Look for "Universal serial bus controllers" and click on the plus sign in front.
If your Device Manager shows an ENHANCED USB Host Controller, the system has High Speed USB (USB 2.0) capability.
Types of High Speed USB (USB 2.0) Host Controllers
If it does not have Enhanced anywhere you are using 1.1 and some devices might not work properly or may need additional drivers for it to work properly.
If it says 'Standard Enhanced' then you do not have the appropriate motherboard drivers installed and you will need to update them.
If you have Enhanced and the updated motherboard drivers and some devices will not work in certain USB ports, but work in others, then it comes down to a hardware issue with the motherboard.
Since you have a 7 port hub, I would plug that into the port with the wireless adapter and then plug all your devices into the hub.
Have you checked drivers not only for the usb, but for the chipset of the system itself. Also, have you installed service pack 2?
Might also just visually inspect for troublesome fingers in the ports themselves; often get bent and short out.
Good luck
