You're in luck! I found a video walk-through (that is able to explain far better than my step by step directions) for your model on how to set up a wireless connection to the printer!

You can find it here: http://h30461.www3.hp.com/index.jsp?fr_story=a52ba6ac1ea7b893a1bc67bd20d60135d4ff8c34&rf=sitemap

Just be sure that before tryint to set it up, you have the IP address of your HP Printer.

You can find this by going to the printer:

1. press the setup button (which looks like a wrench) on the fron of the printer to open the wireless menu.

2. Select PRINT REPORT, then select NETWORK CONFIG, and then press ok. In a few moments, it will print a nice sheet giving you this information.

Also, if you think you would be okay skipping the video and just running a connection wizard, you can download them with the links below (I listed quite a few as you didn’t mention which version of windows you were using):

windows xp: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-60958-2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3692888
windows vista: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-60958-2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3692888
windows 7: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-77044-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=4062&product=3692888

I really hope this helps. If you need any additional assitance, don't hesitate to ask!

With Best,
TJ

Hi, You need to access your routers setup page in a web browser.
EG- 192.168.1.2 - Check your router manual.
Then go into wireless settings and in Wireless station access list or something labeled like that you need to disable MAC access control.
There should also be a list of other wireless devices(if you have any).
Save the changes then run the setup disc that came with the printer.
Follow the instructions carefully.
If you need more help, let me know

My OfficeJet J4680 Stopped Printing Wirelessly. I have an Acer Aspire One netbook running XP 2002 Service Pk 3. I have an OfficeJet J4680 which is hardwired to my main computer, a Mac mini and connected...

I've seen this happen on several HP printers. You have to "point" the computer back to the right IP address. Go into the printer properties, under the Ports tab, and highlight the correct port for that printer. Then click on the Configure Port button below the list of ports. Next to "Printer Name or IP Address," type in the correct address -- 192.168.1.110. Then click OK to exit that window and OK to exit the Properties window and save the change, and after a couple of seconds for the IP address change to take effect, you should be able to resume normal printing.

I can not get my HP Officejet J4680 Inkjet Printer to work on wireless. Can only use with USB cable. I no longer have my Setup CD. Any suggestions?

First check that your antivirus and firewall software are not blocking the print jobs. Do this by turning off the services for a few minutes. If you can print, check for a setup option of trusted machines. If that doesn't help, make sure you have a strong wireless signal between the computer and the printer with no interference from other appliances (cordless phones, microwaves, etc). Also check your settings to make sure the printer and computer are set for the same wireless network profile and security settings.

For additional information, try the user's manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01770356.pdf

I hope this helps.

(I have generally preferred printing with a wired connection (USB) over using a wireless networks. I've always spent more time on printer problems that were directly linked to the network signal loss problems rather than printer issues.)

Officejet J4680 won't printer after router reset

) You might not have to do this step, but if all else fails reset the HP Officejet J4680 network by pressing the setup button (the wrench) go to Wireless Menu and Press OK then go to Reset Wireless select YES and press OK. If that doesn't work then there is another reset that I found in the setup menu (the wrench) under Tools and then Restore Defaults. I wound up doing both resets on my Officejet J4680

2) Power the HP Officejet off and on for good luck (again optional but might help).

3) Make sure the the wireless on the printer is enabled by pushing the button on the left side front under the 802.11g so that the blue wireless light turns on. (again optional, but make sure the blue antennae light is on)

4) Connect to the HP Officejet J4680 wireless printer directly from the MAC (this is pretty cool stuff) Click on the Airport icon at the top bar of your mac screen, if you see the hpsetup listed then click on it, if it is not listed then click on join other network and type in hpsetup and click Join. This will join the mac to the Ad Hoc HPSetup network and you can now setup the printer from the mac!

5) Important: Print a network settings report on the HP Officejet by pressing the setup button again (the wrench) go to Print Report and press OK, go to Network config and press OK. If you try and print this before you connect (step 4) you will not get the info you need in the report, so connect first from Mac to HP then print this report.

6) fire up safari or Firefox or chrome browser on the Mac and type in the URL that is listed on the report you just printed out. It starts with http:// type in the http:// and the 4 numbers all together with no spaces into the address bar in your browser and press return.

7) you are now connected to the HP Officejet J4680 via the web browser interface. Click on Networking, then Advanced, click the infrastructure tab and fill in the passphrase info for your router type it again to confirm, then click apply. It should now connect and print from the router. But below is a good video with even more detailed info:

8) More Officejet J4680 setup via the mac using this very thorough guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjd1ZqJ89N4

Can I print via my wireless network with HP OfficeJet 6310xi?

Nothing helps. Print servers are capable of connecting a multifunction printer for printing capabilities only. For scanning, you have to connect directly to the Computer or by a Multifunction printer with wireless capabilities.
