Again, I am trying to install Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 on a new computer with Windows 7.

2/3rds of the way through the installation, it fails and I get an Error Message as follows:

ERROR 25004.Config.Xml not Specified; A Valid Config.Xlm Must Be Authored WHen Deploying '(Null)'.

No suggestions have been helpful. I still continue to get the Error 25004.Config.Xml not Specified.

I don't understand why this should be so difficult to fix. I have a new computer with Windows 7 trying to install Office Outlook 2007

Hello,

there is nothing to fix in a situation like this. Usually, installing a software should not be this difficult. And for the software to show you "error", then its either the software is not compatible with the widows on you system or the files on the software disc is corrupt.

From what is perceive, the problem is from windows 7. Windows 7 is a new windows that is still being worked on and not all software are able to work with it. Some maybe you should get another outlook 7 software disc.

Windows vista, also faced problem like this when it first came out. Even till now, it does not all software can be installed on it.

Therefore, installation is not a difficult task, once you insert the installation disc, the system should automatically read the files on the disc and installation should proceed from there. The moment you receive any error message, then know that, its either the files on the disk is corrupt and maybe there is a scratch/dust on the disk that needs to cleaned with a cloth or the windows is not compatible with the installation disc.

Take care

A Miller

This can be caused by several things and I will try and list all fixes. The first one is to make sure that you are logged into an administrator account. Go into the Control Panel and then click on Uninstall Programs link. Uninstall everything that says Microsoft Office. This includes all add-in's and specially trial versions.

The second fix is after you uninstall all Office programs, reboot the computer and then go into your Computer then Program Files and delete any folders that say Microsoft Office. Reboot again and try to install 2007.

If all that doesn't work, Microsoft has a fix in their knowledge base that should work if all those fail. Here is a link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927153/en-us

For Windows 7, follow the Vista walkthrough as they are almost the same.

If all else fails and none of these work, try using the Microsoft Cleanup Utility, reboot and try and install.

Here is a link to the utility:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Have a great day.

Oh, one last thing I forgot to mention. Disable any virus, spyware, malware, adware program you might have running in the background. You might also want to try and install it in safe mode if you are unable to disable your vius scanner.

    John60568,

I noticed that you rejected my solution but please make sure you have done everything that I have posted. I just posted the solution about 5 minutes ago and I know I wouldn't be able to try everything I posted in only 5 minutes.

One of those solutions will work.

  • Anonymous Jan 25, 2010

I just spoke with my Microsoft expert that I work with occassionaly at work and he sent me directly to one of the solutions that I provided and said it will work or there is something wrong with your installation cd.

Here is a repost of that solution that he pointed me to:

If all that doesn't work, Microsoft has a fix in their knowledge base that should work if all those fail. Here is a link:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927153/e...

For Windows 7, follow the Vista walkthrough as they are almost the same

He suggested that if this doesn't work, and the installation cd is bad, to copy the whole cd into a folder on your desktop, labled whatever you want, and try and install it from the hard drive.

Here is more information on what config.xml does and what it's used for:

Log in on the Administrator account. Then remove the trial version (if there is). Reboot.

If there's no trial version of Outlook, log in on Administrator account and install full version of Outlook 2007 from the CD. Log out of Admin account and onto your normal account afterwards.

Good luck and have a great day!

Error 25004.config.xml not specified; A valid config.xml file must be authored when deploying '(null)'. i am installing microsoft office enterprise 2007 and i enounter this problem..how will i

If the version of windows installed on your computer is not activated you would face issues to use any applications once the product is expired.

But if you have an issue with office programs with an error 25004 on an activated version of windows
Then the reason might be corrupted installation of office 2007 on the computer.
Uninstall office 2007 manually from the computer then
re-install it and check if it helps.

Try renaming the install directory. Normal install is located C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12. Rename office12 to office12bak (just in case you need to put it back again). This will normally allow you to reinstall office again.

Unable to install ms office 2007, upgrading from Office 2003

Hi,
please first uninstall all the existing versions of MS Office. Then try to clean temporary files, cache and registry using tools like cCleaner (freely availavle), then install MS Office.

if you want to install only MS Office 2007, no need to install MS office 2003 and upgrade. directly install MS Office 2007.

If you want to keep both, pleas install MS office 2003 first, then MS office 2007, please dont uograde it, rather select Keep both version.

Please make sure that you have admin permission before doing all this and your system is free from any virus.
Thanks
