I've replace battiers in my TI-85 and now when I turn it on there is a black screen. I can turn off. What do I do to clear screen?

  • kakima May 11, 2010

Try adjusting the contrast and see if that helps.

    Turn calculator on.
Press and release the 2ND key.
Press and hold the down-arrow key to decrease the contrast.

Obviously, you'll use the up-key if you've decreased the contrast too far, after pressing and releasing the 2ND key again.

After battery replacement, the screen contrast is liable to change: It may be too dark (your current case) or too light. You must adjust the contrast.

  2. Press an d HOLD one one of the navigation arrows

We put new batteries in the TI-85 but the screen is now black and it is very difficult to read.

Adjust the contrast. Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2nd key. Press and hold the down-arrow for a few seconds key until the screen lightens. Obviously, if you go too far, press and release the 2nd key and then press and hold the up-arrow key.

How do you set the contrast on the TI-85? My

turn the TI-85 on and then hit the yellow "2nd" button and then down arrow. This may take several repeats. If it gets too light hit "2nd" and Up arrow.

It might be turning on but the screen may be to light. Try pressing on then darkening the screen by holding 2nd and the up arrow. If it works then you're welcome; if not then sorry i led you astray.
