Sony Vaio aftermarket battery

I just bought a replacement battery for my Sony Vaio PCG-6H4L laptop and it has a message saying that the battery is incompatible. Any help in getting rid of this message would be appreciate.

I have the same problem with the aftermarket battery. my sony is VGN-S48GP which i have for 3 years.

there are a few posting about this on the web on how to solve them. some people are successful and some are not.

there is a .exe file call ISBmgr.exe which is contained in the start up sequence of windows XP, when the XP is installed with factory disk from sony. this programs checks the battery and does not allow non-sony battery to work with the notebook. i ask XP not to load this program and now i can use the battery.

THIS IS HOW:-
go to Run
type MSConfig
look for startup tap
find ISBmgr.exe
disable it
reboot

i like this method because the action is reversable. there are other posts on the web which ask you to delete the ISBmgr file. i did not choose that way.

Good Luck.

If the battery isn't Sony original or not the correct model, it wouldn't work with the PC, the battery inside has a chip to help the notebook identify it. That chip is programmed at factory.
Get a new replacement or a better quality "compatible" battery, it's the only way.

I don't have the solution for this problem for now but I'm sure of one thing, that's the battery CAN work properly, I know that because when I bought my "generic" battery on ebay my computer (sony vaio vgn serie) have window install from a cd, not the one provide on the hard drive from sony and I never have any problem with the battery "compatibility". But now I've formate (don't now if it's the right word for it since english is not my first language, sorry for that) and my computer have the windows that's provide on the hard drive and now I have a message of "battery not compatible....blablabla"
Hope that can help
Fred

HAVE TRIED CHANGE THE CMOS BATTEWHAT CAN I DO NXTRY TO REMOVE BIOS PASSWORD BUT IT COUDNT WORK,?

Sony Vaio PCG and some Vaio VGN Series use the last 7 digits of the laptop serial number to calculate the bios master password. The serial number for a Sony Vaio is often located on the bottom of the laptop on a white sticker. The serial number may also be found by removing the battery and checking in the battery compartment. The link to unlockbiosrecovery.com below works on the following models:
PCG-C, PCG-F, PCG-GR, PCG-GRS, PCG-GRT, PCG-GRV, PCG-GRX, PCG-GRZ, PCG-N, PCG-NV205, PCG-QR, PCG-R, PCG-SR, PCG-SRX, PCG-TR, PCG-V, PCG-VX, PCG-X, PCG-Z, VGN-B, VGN-FS, VGN-S, VGN-T, VGN-TX1, VGN-X
I use http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_Sony_Bios.php
For $20 they use the last 7 digits of the laptop serial number to calculate the bios master password and then email it to you in an hour. They guarantee it to work and you can call them if you have a question.

Sony Vaio PCG-6h4l laptop turns off for no reason. While using laptop on batteries it works fine and does not power off while using. But while using with electricity the laptop turns off for no reason,...

It could be that the laptop disables it's battery when you connect it with the power supply. When the power supply then fails it won't have enough time to switch back to battery. You'd best first try another power supply, and post back here if that doesn't help.
