The bottom crisper in my Kenmore refrigerator freezes my veggies. It even freezes up so bad the drawer won't even open. I tried turning up my thermostat to 39 degrees and this didn't fix the problem. (My milk started going bad at this temp too.) I have tried toggling the lever at the bottom left hand side of the frige from veg to meats and this also did not seem to make a difference. The unit is less than 5 years old. I am sick and tired of my produce getting ruined!! Thanks for any suggestions.
To repair this problem I dont think just toggling a lever is going to work. You need to locate what is suppose to sense the temp in the fridge section and how it stops the air flow to the fridge section. Basically most refrigerators cool in the freezer using the freon coils and transfer the cold to the fridge section using the fan in the freezer. Then your thermostat (temp sensor) stops the air flow by either turning off the fan or closing a small door going to the fridge section. This door is called the baffle and if you put your hand up to it and can still feel air coming thru when the temperature is 39 degrees or lower its not doing its job. With a model number I could help better but my guess is if its not freezing everything only the veggies your thermostat is off or the baffle is unable to close all the way and may have ice or debris in it. Either way I hope this helps.
