Print Quality Settings

How do you set the print quality default to fast draft? The factory settings are Standard and if I want fast draft I must go into the properties and select fast for each and every document.

Most annoying.

Wow Pamela! You ask your question well. Good Job! Print options such as that can not be set at the printer. Changing the settings inside the application is not permanent. Follow HPs instructions here for default settings:

Try to reset the factory settings: Go to Settings tab and press the Resets option. This will change all the settings to default factory settings. HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer - printing any kind of document, from many formats (docs, pdf, photos) takes more than 15 minutes for one page to print. Tried restarting computer, printer,...

When you click to print something, you will get what's called the Print Dialogue box. Before clicking "OK", click the Properties button.26849353-6c28-4abb-ab9c-b5e445a1b08b.jpgThis will take you to a screen with some tabs. Click on the Paper/Quality tab. Somewhere in that window you will see some options for "Print Quality".

By default, it is probably set to "Normal". That's the middle setting. To save ink, you can set it to Fast Normal (better for ink saving) or Fast Draft (best for ink saving). This means the printer will use less ink to print the page. The final copy will look a little lighter but certainly still readable.

This option "fast draft" will print very fast and also save your ink.

I print labels with my Microline 320 Turbo. I put a new ribbon in and the labels are so wet and bold and after sitting for awhile they bleed until you can't read them. I have the lever on the print head...

This results from theway the print head is striking the paper. If you have it set to NLQ. it will be heavy, you can set it to a draft mode or SSD:

Print the Menu Settings, to see what your settings are:

Printing the settings is the only way to have a record of

Streaks on copy

Try these steps first:

1. Check ink level.

2. Nozzle Check Pattern
  1. Load A4- or letter-size plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF) or cassette.

  2. Press the <Feed Switch> button to select the appropriate paper source.

  3. Press <Menu> repeatedly until [MAINTENANCE] appears.

  4. Press <OK>.
The machine prints a nozzle check pattern.

    bde48f2.jpg

  5. Confirm the pattern is not broken, missing, or a specific color is not printed.

3. Print Head Cleaning / Head Refreshing If the printed Nozzle Check Pattern is broken, missing, or a specific color is not printed, clean the print head.
  1. Press the <Menu> button on the printers operation panel repeatedly until [MAINTENANCE] appears in the LCD.

  2. Press the left [<] or right [>] arrow buttons to select the cleaning setting you want. Select [HEAD CLEANING] or [HEAD REFRESHING] for deep print head cleaning.

Note: [HEAD REFRESHING] uses more ink than [HEAD CLEANING], so perform [HEAD REFRESHING] only when necessary.

  3. Press the <OK> button.

  4. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and perform at least two Head Refreshings if the pattern is not correct.

You can also try using a higher quality print settings as follows:

Change the Print Quality Settings (Windows) The Quality setting controls how finely ink droplets are placed on the printed page. Depending on the type of paper being used a higher Print Quality setting does not always insure a better print. Print speed will decrease as the Print Quality setting is increased. Follow the instructions below to change the print quality settings in the Canon printer driver for the Windows operating system through a printing application.
  1. Click 'Properties' in the Print dialog box.

Note: Depending on the Application software, 'Properties' may be displayed as 'Preferences'.

  2. Set the desired print quality in the 'Print Quality' section.

  3. Select 'High', 'Standard', or 'Draft / Fast'.
To set more detailed print quality settings, follow this procedure:
  1. Select 'Custom' and click 'Set'.

  2. In the Set Print Quality dialog drag the slide bar from 'Fast' to 'Fine' to select the print quality.

Note: There are five options in 'Quality'. However, selectable options are limited depending on the media type.

  3. Select 'Auto', 'Dither', or 'Diffusion' from the 'Halftoning' section.

If the above steps do not solve your problem, it may be a time to purchase a new printhead.
