Misbehaving toilet

The included link should provide some help in determining your specific design. Depending on your specific design the flapper is a critical component in controlling the amount of water released from the tank during flush.

The appearance of water flushing is in fact created by the siphon action of the water falling down through the drain pipe.

Any restriction in the down stream drain flow can give the appearance of a bad flush. So the problem may not be flush, but a restriction in the drain pipe, or trap-way or outlet.

Using a bucket filled with water pour water quickly into bowl and observe the flush action. Compare the action with another toilet using the bucket. If the flush appears adequate and the water from the tank flows slowly check for salt buildup at the nozzle end of the outlet from the tank into the bowl.

In the design below there is a transfer tube that injects air into the trap. This provides a vacuum to promote the siphon during flush. A leak or failed seal in this transfer tube would result in poor flush.

If drains are slow, particularly if you hear a "gurgling" sound at fixtures during draining, I'd suspect that the building vent system is blocked restricted. A restricted drain is much more likely than a restricted vent. Small children are likely to have placed non biodegradable toys etc into the toilet and they may have gotten trapped. Build up in the vent pipe is also common.
In this example ice is blocking the vent!

Korky anti-siphon. Tank water slowly drops, accompanied by a hissing sound. Then, after dropping about 1/2 inch, it refills. Wha?

either the fill valve is running and water is draining into the bowl via the overflow tube in the tank or the flapper is bad (or foreign matter) and it is allowing water to escape into the bowl slowly...causing the fill valve to run every few minutes or so. hope this helps but if you need anything else just text me here:)

Just hooked up new pressure asist tank & bowl, turned on water to it,and it want flush.what i mean about want flush, is it will flush but water does'nt go down,as if it's not staying open long enough.

Sounds like you have a clogged drainline or vent-stack. Fill a large bucket with about three gallons of water and dump it quickly into the bowl. If the drainline/vent is clear, the toilet will "flush" like a gravity toilet and the water will drain from the bowl almost as fast as you can pour it in.

If the water level in the bowl slowly rises (as if it's about to overflow) and then slowly drains, you have a clog somewhere.

All toilets, regardless of their flushing mechanism, require a clear, unoibstructed drain/waste/vent system to extract waste.

If the toilet "flushes" with the bucket of water, you may want to call Flushmate tech support (the number is on top of the tank) or check out the installation and troubleshooting videos at howto.flushmate.com.

Hope this helps.

My honda engine will run for a few seconds then dies. drained the bowl, thought it might be moisture in tank, and it still wont stay running.

Two possibilities here.

Most likely at this time of year is that the fuel is contaminated and that you've got a fresh slug of water in the bowl

Try draining the bowl again, while having a good look at what comes out first:

If it's oily water (comes out slowly in big drops that stay bunched up when they land. If you put a bit on your finger and bring it to your nose, it smells unpleasantly oily. May contain rust coloured blobs of microbial contamination), then you've got a tank of contaminated fuel.

If you get petrol straight away (just runs out, spreads out over every surface it touches and makes the place absolutely reek of petrol the moment it comes out) then perhaps water isn't the problem.

If you get water repeatedly, then you need to drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel.

The other thing that would make the engine cutout after a while is if the engine is sucking fuel out the bowl faster than it's being replaced, which is likely to be a blockage issue.

Try draining the whole fuel system, removing the bowl, cleaning the insides of it out, blowing through the drillings on the bolt that held the bolt on and cleaning out any snotty stuff that's blocking up the float-operated inlet valve exposed when you removed the bowl. Reassemble carefully (if the bottom of the bowl is shaped, make sure you put it on so the float is free to move) and take this opportunity to refill with fesh fuel.

Unit will start at full choke but will not stay running with choke off, will load up on full choke and stay running around 3/4 choke

HI,
Turn off the gas and take the bowl off the carburetor.Look for water bubbles in the gas that spills away. Water will float like little balls on gas. If so drain gas tank put in new gas with some HEET added. While you have the bowl off spray up and around the bottom of the now exposed carburetor.
Pay attention to spray up the small copper tube in the center of the carb.
Clean out bowl and put it back on. Turn on your gas. Look for leaks around the replaced bowl. Good luck.

Toilet makes noise as though it has been running and quickly tops up the tank. I cannot take the top off to see what is going on because of the dual flow system.

The flapper is leaking and needs to be replaced. Different toilets have different style flappers, but they all forma seal from the tank to the bowl at the flush valve. When the flapper is lifted, the water rushes into the toilet bowl.

When they develop leaks, the tank slowly drains, (often unoticable) and eventually the fill valve senses the tank is not completely full and "tops off" the tank.

Buy the best quality flapper available, as the cheap low quality ones often leak right out of the package.
