When connecting the sony prs600 ebook reader, an error pops up every few second with the message write protet error, please remove the write protection from the volume launcher in drive h: nothing i do can remove this write protection.

Hi, when I charge my Sony ereader I have to leave it plugged into the main computer for a few hours. Does the Sony library page open when you have the reader plugged in? If not you may need to re register your reader, the reg.no. Is on the back of the device.

To deauthorize the PRS600 it must be connected to the computer, I understand that the reader broke, so the only option will be to contact Sony to remove the device.

To authorize your new PRS650 just connect the unit to the computer and sign in to your account, you will be prompted to a message that says that a new device have been detected, now its the time to click th "Authorize" button

Hi,

This error may happen when you have eBooks that you borrowed from the library in both Adobe DRM-protected ePub and PDF formats on the Reader digital book at the same time. Follow these steps to correct this issue:

1. Delete all borrwed books from the Reader digital book.
2. Verify that all borrowed books are in the same format (either ePub or PDF) before transferring them back to your Reader digital book.

That error message indicates that the book you purchased was through a different eBook vendor and was attached to a different device or software program - in other words, Sony is recognizing it as unauthorized or a "stolen" book. Sometimes you are able to unlock the book using the credit card number used to purchase it, but it will need to be re-downloaded from the source site in order for it to be an option.

The error -474 or -1106 sometimes occurs after an issue with validation or authorization in the Reader (eBook) Library software.

From the Reader (eBook) Store, deauthorize the computer.
Close the Reader (eBook) Library software.
Reopen the Reader (eBook) Library software.
Sign in to the account to authorize the computer again.
Try again to download a book purchased previously from the Reader Store.
If the error still occurs, proceed with the steps below:
Install the Adobe Digital Editions software. Use the installer at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions.
Setup Assistant will be displayed in the Adobe Digital Editions program.
Click the Authorize button and then the Finished button.
Deauthorize the computer using Adobe Digital Editions
NOTE: Press Ctrl-Shift-D to deauthorize the computer.

Reopen the Reader Library.
Go to the Reader Store and sign in.
You will now be able to download an eBook and transfer it to the Reader device.

If issue persists, deauthorize the computer, then follow the steps below.

Browse to http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/ and download the software.
please sign in with the Adobe ID and password when prompted .
Now, click on the "Activate" option and close the Adobe Digital Editions Software
Reopen the Reader Library software.
Sign in to the Reader Store.
Try again to download a book purchased previously from the Reader Store.

Please perform the above steps and that should resolve the issue.

When this situation occurs, the Reader will not appear in the left pane of the Reader Library software or the Reader Library may shut down when connecting the Reader to the computer. Follow these steps to resolve this issue.
IMPORTANT: Before starting this or any troubleshooting procedure, verify that the Portable Reader has been updated with the latest firmware version and that the latest version of the Reader (eBook) Library software is installed on the computer. The latest firmware and software is available at the Sony Support Web Site.
NOTE: Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, open the Reader (eBook) Library software and connect the Reader to the computer after completing each step.

1. If the reader is not recognized by the library software, close the software, re-open it and then check the connection status again.
2. Verify that the Reader is turned on and is not locked.
3. Verify that the Reader battery has an adequate charge.NOTE: If the Reader battery is discharged, allow the battery to charge for at least one hour before attempting to connect the Reader to the Reader (eBook) Library software.
   
4. Verify that the USB cable is properly and securely connected to the Reader and the computer.NOTE: The USB cable should be connected directly to the computer. Connecting the Reader using a USB hub or extension cable is not supported.
   
5. Verify that the Reader displays the USB connection indicator in the upper-right corner of the screen.
6. Remove any Memory Stick® media or SD media in the Reader.
7. Disconnect the Reader from the computer, close the Reader library software and restart the computer.
8. With the Reader disconnected from the computer, perform a hard reset.
9. With the Reader connected to the computer, uninstall and reinstall the Sony Reader USB driver.
10. Install the Reader library software on a different computer and connect the Reader.

3. Now transferring the books to the Reader:

In the eBook Library Software, select the "Library" view - this is where you can see all imported files and purchased eBooks.

Click on one, or several, titles and drag the files from your Library onto your Reader Digital Book (the Status symbol will start spinning for the duration of the transfer).
Once the Status symbol comes to a halt, the transfer is finished.
Still within the eBook Library Software, select your Reader Digital Book to verify that the file(s) are on the device.
If there are titles you purchased that are not in your Library, click here for directions to download these books from your account section.

The circle with a line through the Reader and the message that says "Do not disconnect" will appear on the Reader while it will be connected to the Computer. This is a normal operation. And the Reader requires to be connected at least 4 hours to get it fully charged. Please keep connecting the Reader at least 4 houtrs to get it fully charged.
