Is the magnetron the only possible cause?

Is the magnatron the only possible cause? How about the diode or the capacitor?

This means the Magnetron (this is the part that heats the food) has broken especially if everything else works as usual. Generally it is not work replacing the part as it is almost as cheap to just buy a new microwave since it is the most crucial part of the microwave. You can find the replacement part at repairclinic.com, just enter the model number of your microwave to find the right part. My recommendation is to just replace the microwave as it will be much easier and the new one will be less likely to break sooner.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Generally it is the magnetron and usually I don't have people try to mess around too much with checking other parts because of possible dangers and many don't have the knowledge to fix the problem. As long as all other settings work and their is a good connection between the magnetron and the board, then it should be the magnetron. If you see a buldging capacitor, then by all means try replacing it as they are cheap but 99% of the time, the magnetron itself is bad.

If the unit is running and the turntable is going then the only thing that can be wrong is a bad magnetron.and should be replaced

The magnatron has either failed or has burnt the circuit protection fuse inside. Depending on how much the microwave cost you to purchase, and with the cost of service shops diagnosis fees these days it may be time to replace the microwave rather than invest in service.
If it happens to be under warranty take advantage of the manufactures warranty!
Good luck !

Hi,

This is a problem which is seen when the top door micro-switch does not work properly. Please check if the spring has lost its springiness, causing the switch to remain open (ie, not closed and conducting juice). Would request to have it removed. You can get to the switch by opening control panel to get to it, bent the spring, put it back .Oven would start heating again.
Let us know if you were looking for something else.
Thank You

Assuming the turntable works maybe your magnetron isn't working properly. Cheaper to buy new microwave then to fix it.

Most likely you have a magnetron problem. Easy to replace (DYI) but make sure the high voltage capacitor is fully discharged first against the case.

Microwave seems to work but doesn't heat up

HI, when the Magnetron becomes unstable, the microwave will not heat anything. simply replace the Magnetron. This device creates the heating action and it is damaged and not functional at this time.

MICROWAVE NOT HEATING

I have the same problem. Everything seems to work except it doesn't heat up food.
I remember last time when it was working. I pressed the start botton before I closed the door. So it didn't start automatically, and I pushed start and it worked(it still heat up the food), but it doesn't work now. Help Please!!!
I have a Whirlpool Gold GH5184XPQ.

Thanks in advance
