I don't know how the timer works on my old st george imperial wall oven. it has a start and stop dial, with a larger dial that has the clock on it. The timer is apparently on, and the oven turns itself off at will. I then have to play with the dials for ages to get the oven to switch on again. There is no rhyme or reason. I'm unable to find an instruction manual anywhere, even on the internet. I don't want to use the timer, I just want to turn the oven on and off manually on my terms!
I have this exact same oven and this "feature" annoys me no end. To turn it off ... turn the clock dial to PAST the time that the timer dial shows. EG: If your timer dial is showing 6, turn the clock dial so that it rolls past 6 o'clock. This will pop out the timer dial and thus turn off the timer, allowing you to use the oven normally.
To stop accidentally pushing/turning that timer dial, I removed the knobs. Good luck.
