How do you reformat Latitude d600 xp - Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

There is no option to reset your dell latitude d600 the only option is to reformat your hardrive and install new operating system

you will also need to download the driver for the mic

go to www.dell.com
select laptop select your model
download drivers from the site

you can use a licensed OS (vista or XP) for reinstalling the windows and download the drivers later

I will assume you are using WIndows XP or Vista - what you can do, assuming you have kept your PC up-to-date, is try to run the inbuilt Microsoft anti-malware program.
Click Start, Run, type MRT and press Enter or click OK.
You should get the February 2009 version of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Do a quick scan and see what comes up. If anything is found, reboot and repeat the process doing a full scan (can take several hours).
That should fix and remove the most common virus infections. Let me know how you get on.

If you still need to reformat, you need to use the Dell recovery CDs that came with your laptop. These were a blue recovery/drivers CD and a purple CD for Windows XP sp1 or a green CD for Windows XP sp2. Not sure about other versions of Windows. There is no magic button to reformat with Dell laptops.

well it could be a bad sector on the hardrive .. couple of questions did you reformat the drive you are installing it in? Did it give you that option on your reinstall?

Looks like you already have Win XP install on ur machine....why you need to boot by using cd? do u want to reformat your pc or upgrade it?

Since the virus has taken it's toll, the F11 built in restore won't work. You will have to acquire an operating system disc in order to fix your problem. Unfortunately, there is no other way around it.
