CPU Upgrade Hello. I would like to know if I can upgrade my acer aspire 2100 desktop cpu. It is an amd k6-2 300mhz, And I would like to put in a amd k6-2 550mhz. Will the system board handle it? Is the board limited to a 66mhz bus speed? Also, where can I find out the board specs? Is this board a socket 7? And my Final question is How do I enter the bios? I can't seem to find the right key combination on startup. Thank You!

Thank You For Your Help SirHanz. I have been to that web page before. I was hoping somebody has done this in the past. I see it lists those processors, But I took it as those were the cpu's that came as options in this package. I thought it looked like a socket 7. I tried to access the bios with the f2 key and it just keeps booting up to windows. I will keep trying though. Thank You Again For Your Time, You were Helpful!

OK as far as I know and can figure out, it will not support that processor. It has a max of 366mhz processor, you can find the system specs here http://www.acersupport.com/desktop/aspire/html/as21xx_specs.html

also it should be a socket 7, and you should just have to press F2, that is above your w-e-3 keys, while the system is starting up, before windows trys to load. Plus you should be able to find your board specs here

I have an acer aspire 5250-0639 with AMD 1.65ghz wondering what motherboard and processors upgrades would work

because your CPU is connected to your m/b by ball grid array technology (so the reference says) it cannot be upgraded, removed or replaced
see
Can upgrade this laptop cpu
see also FAQ on
AMD Series 450 EME450GBB22GV
As a new m/b, you might be better off replacing your whole computer

CPU upgrade Acer Aspire 5101

no full model told , letters at end of 5101 (matter huge)
moved you out of HP forum to acer and guessed mode. above.
so forgot to ask directly Acer.com this.
ask for the CPU QVL list, means CPU qualified vendors list.
they have nO LIST, it is not a gaming PC so nobody plays musical CPU there. (and gains are nill)
the answer is always this, if you read the top web site cpu upgrades
1: it must have socket, there, vast laptops do not , all now.
yours does. and pin counts correct.

2: the BIOS must like it;. or upgrade bios I acer told you it has newer CPUs added, and OMG a list.
3: the chip set inside AMD must allow it; (pure cold logic)
4: new CPU does not violate mobo power VRM ratings for watts.
not cause PC to overheat, easy as most laptops love to do.
5: the bios allows new clocking .
6: the mobo bandwidth allows it, going faster clocks
these rules are only a base line, CPU are not like light bulbs.

new it had this,
2 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile
638-pin lidless micro-PGA
called s1g4 is the fourth and the last revision of socket S1. The S1g4 was employed exclusively by mobile AMD microprocessors from 2010 mainstream platform, codenamed Danube
the list is here
https://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket_S1_(S1g4).html

only acer.com can answer which in the S1g4 .

them only OR BUY AND TRY WASH WEAR AND REPEAT.
YOU TELL US.
good luck.

Ps :
THIS VERSION IS.

Want faster processor for acer x1300 it base unit

Here are the spec on your pc if the information you gave me is correct. You can only upgrade the cpu to the socket you have. I think you would be better off adding more RAM and a better video card that isn't onboard. Processor / Chipset
  • Type AMD Athlon X2 7450 / 2.4 GHz
  • Number of Cores Dual-Core
  • 64-bit Computing Yes
  • CPU Qty 1.0
  • Max CPU Qty 1.0

Hello there! I wanted to upgrade my ACER ASPIRE T180 Mobo: MCP61M-AM-6A61KE11C-00 I want to upgrade the stock CPU : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+ Into an AMD Anthlon 64X2. Am2+ socket also...

AM2+ mainboard will mean that you will be able to install AM2 and AM3 CPU's. That includes Athlon 64 X2 and Athlon 2 X2 to X4.

My advice would be to look at an Athlon 2 X2 250 3.0GHz CPU at least. It will be able to run on DDR2 or DDR3 RAM, it depends which socket you install it in. AM2+ is DDR2 and AM3 is DDR3.
Try and get an AM3 mainboard if you can it is worth it, ASUS is good. However then you may need new RAM. You may want a new Graphics card as well. Go to a computer store or use the net to look around and learn more about the AMD computer. Computer stores build special gaming computers, very good looking and great performers. It all depends on your budget.

Take care and Happy Gaming!

No problem want to upgrade

There are lots of possibilities Rob. Endless, I would say. Looking at your specs you could spend up to $400 or $500 depending on what you want.

RAM - $50 to max out @ 4GB
Graphics - $100 to $200 for a good PCI-Express card w/512MB
Sound - $50 to $100 for a good 7.1 card
CPU - $100 for a Pentium Dual Core 2.7GHz with 800MHz FSB

These prices are from www.tigerdirect.com which would be a good place to start.

One thing to consider is the price of a new computer compared with an upgrade. Sometimes you are better off just getting a new one. Again, it depends on what you want...and can afford.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.
