I have reinstalled the AS 2300 software twice now, version 7.3. The foot switch shows up in the control panel, but you cannot pull up the options within the DSS player. When you start a new file in the DSS player the foot switch does not respond.
Thanks for your help.
The answer is all in the serial number you use to install the DSS player!
Look carefully and you will see the recorder disk has in my case an [E] printed above the install serial number and the transcription pedal has [T]
Install the same disk with the E the driver is there, the control in Control Panel is there, but the foot switch does not work with the software. Put in the serial number with the [T] and foot switch works first time!
If you uninstall the play and then reinstall with the [T] serial number you do not need to reboot or even unplug the foot switch from the USB.
Bingo
What tasharp said is correct, the [E] is the Dictation version of the Software will NOT Support the Foot Pedal , The [E] comes with Voice Recorders, DS series , the [ T ] Version is the Transcription version which is comes with the AS-2300 transcription Kit,
Both of them have the same exact CD , but different serial #'s .\
You might want to try Express Scribe and a Classy Transcription Foot Pedal for an inexpensive and power transcription solution. Express Scribe is a free transcription software program that is used by many transcriptionists. The Classy USB transcription foot pedal is available at PCDictate.com, a great source for all your transcription equipment needs.

You can install any dss player pro 4, update to dss player 5 with the update on the olympus site.
if you are stuck on dictation modul with the given serial from the internet, where there is no transcription modul, cange the serial as said above in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Olympus\DSSPlayer2002\Dictation Module\UserInformation to a transription one with a T.
If the program doesnt start due to "wrong serial", go to windows >start>systemcontrol>programs> deinstall/repair/change, select change dss player, now enter the correct serial with a t, and the programm will add the transcription mode and partly reinstall. and it works. the ds-330 recorders work with dss player 7.X.X parallel on the computer on windows 7 as well.
all this crappy issue took me 3 hole days of my life!
The answer is indeed in the serial number. You can easaly change it by going into the registry and changing the serial in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Olympus\DSSPlayer2002\Dictation Module\UserInformation
Just start the software again after you have changed the serial ...

I have the exact same issue. I found it works with another computer, with same os and software loaded. I also found it did not work when trying it on a exact same model computer in building.. same os and software also. The foot pedal is detected in the USB devices.. but the foot pedal selection / configuration drop down is grayed out in the Olympus DSS player Software Version 7.3.0. Have not found the solution as of yet. The model pc and software were computers which had been in place for a few years, with window xp sp2, but have had the windows updates, patches, etc, applied over that time. The pc that worked, is a newer model, with less patching.
I have the same problem i install the pedal switch show that is install but is grayed out in the DSS player
Me too, I cannot get the RS-25 foot switch to work. My version of DSS Player is 7.1.1 (couldn't find 7.3 on their website anywhere) and I upgraded to DSS Player Plus. The foot switch settings are grayed out on the DSS Player but I can get to them in the control panel. I'm running Windows XP Professional. This is very frustrating! I've looked everywhere on the internet to find a solution. I've emailed Olympus support and they are not the least bit helpful. They suggested that I send the foot switch back for repair. I don't think that's the problem at all.
Help! Following the advice above, I uninstalled the foot switch and now I can't find the [T] serial number! All I've got is the [E] and that's not going to help! Ack!
squeck76, I'd be interested in some more details on how you got an RS26 foot pedal running on a Windows 7 system??? I've just had a reply from Olympus support informing me I need to purchase a new foot pedal!!
I’ve tried to look in the registry key area as you advised and I can’t find any Olympus file under the software file??!!???!!
I’d appreciate any help you could give.
Cheers
