The red light on the right side of the freezer at the on off slide mechanism is normal and ok. I indicates the ice maker is not in a cycle at the time. It is not meant to tell the customer the unit is ok or it is not ok. Ignore the light.

Could it not be just the infrared switch that some ice makers use? some times you can see it at night and when the freezer light is no longer working.

  • Anonymous Feb 13, 2008

try turning just the ice maker off for a while then turn it back on and see what happens. it could be a warning that you have full bin .

Viking Frig ice maker

Depends how old the Viking is?
Older Vikings with icemakers with a arm on the side, simply lift
the arm up until locks.
Newer Vikings with Electronic Controls look for a "slide switch"
mounted on the right side of front interior trim. You will see a
red led light usually blinking on and off near the slide.

No water to icemaker. Water in door works well.

the water that enters the ice maker is controled by a thing called a solenoid valve (electricaly operated) the" water in door system" is a manual operated valve.. typicaly when the ejector rolls around to put the ice in the tray the solenoid opens lets water in then closes could be solenoid / wireing or controler
good luck

Flashing red light on ice maker control

Hi

I have Kitchen Aide refrig. Resently, we had a power surge which seems to have done something to the ice maker control. immediately after it stopped making ice. It has since started to make ice but very slowly. Before the controller blinking red light blinked and paused steady. Now, it blinks two red and pause steady. Is this repairable?

Thanks

According to the manual for your refrigerator:
Blinking green light indicates an ice cube is stuck in the icemaker. To fix - Turn off the ice maker with the on/off switch. Then remove all of the ice from the icemaker by hand and turn it back on.

I hope this helps.

Ice Maker on/off switch has blinking red light, will not produce ice. Manual no help

When you open the freezer door the light should be blinking. When you hold the flipper door shut (on the left hand side) without blocking the beam, the light should stay on solid. If all of this happens then the optics are o.k. If optics are ok then you most likely have a broken motor module on the icemaker and should replace the icemaker thermostat along with it. A bad icemaker thermostat will lead to the module breaking. If you not sure how to replace these parts then I would just replace the whole icemaker. That would be easiest and usually not much more expensive.
