There are two possible solutions for this...
check all the sides in this notebook and look for a "wifi" button or switch, (usually comes with an LED light that turns from amber to blue)
the other option is to locate the "blue" Fn key on your keyboard and at the same time press the key that contains a "blue" little tower antena giving a signal"
this should enable your wireless adapter on this machine.
hope this helps..

My laptop (acer aspire 4930) wifi is not able to detect wireless networks. It has been working fine for 1.5 years but something has happened today that it is not able to detect the wireless connections.

Double check that the Wi-Fi didn't accidentally get turned off. There should be a button on your computer that turns it on and off or a fn key usually fn+f2. Try that first if that doesn't solve the issue try reinstalling your driver which can be found at the following site.

Just got aspire 3000 .How do I turn on the wireless capeability

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Follow these Instructions

Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

No internet connection

As I don't have experience with an Acer, I can only suggest something to look for and try. I have a Toshiba, and on the front of the laptop is a switch you have to turn on to engage the wireless card. Once that switch is turned on, I can "see" all avaiable wireless networks in range. Hope this helps.

My laptop will not conect to wireless unless it is wired to the router? is there a fix for this?

A couple of things to check.

Is the wireless router using WIFI? (Obvious question I know)

- If not, connect to 192.168.1.1
- Login = admin, password
- Activate wifi

If your router has it's wfi turned on, try the following;

- Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and make sure WLAN Autoconfig is set to Automatic and started.
- Also make sure the following services are set to Automatic and started:
- Windows Connect Now
- TCP/IP Netbios Helper
- Simple TCP/IP Services
- Network Connections

Where is the switch or function key combination to turn on wireless connection?

It's difficult to tell, but there seems to be a small switch on the front, that may activate the wireless connection. If that isn't it, you can usually access the modems through control panel, under 'network and internet,' and the wireless assistant, or possibly the network and sharing center; if the wireless modem is disabled, right clicking on the icon will usually give you an option to activate it, or you can connect to a network through the network and sharing center, as well as detecting networks, and that will tell you whether or not the thing is working.

My new wirless acer aspireone d250 will not connect to my network, it keeps tell me its unable to connect to preferred wireless network

Wireless Network? With password for login OR for free.....? Make sure this....
If your laptop have wireless internal and turn ON. See your indicator WiFi. And your laptop may be detect some hotspots in your area. If ready to know that hotspot, that's mean your WiFi in laptop is WORKING for that purpose. And you can ask to network administrator for your purpose and log into internet (with WPA key or for free...)

Wireless switch

Although the wireless switch on your Acer does turn on/off your wireless card, you will also need to make sure that your operating system (Windows) has the wireless card enabled.

Do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel)
  2. Double-click Network Connections
  3. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection / WLAN (you can tell it is disabled if the icon is greyed)
    3dce7ab.jpg
  4. Click on "Enable" (if you see Disable, your network is already enabled)
You should check the bottom-right-hand area of your screen (in the menu bar) for your wireless icon. If this is not appearing, you'll have to go into Network Connections again and do the following:
  1. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection (your wireless network adapter)
  2. Select Properties
  3. Click the checkbox that says "Show icon in notification area when connected"

  4. Now click on the Wireless Networks tab (at the top of this dialogue box)
  5. Scan for a network and connect to it.
