The top (ink) light is blinking, and the printer won't print although I replaced both colour and black cartridges. Upon troubleshooting and trying to fix the problem, got the message to use original HP ink, although the ink cartridges I used ARE original. Can you assist with this problem please. Thanks in advance.

your black ink cartridgegot bad sprayernozzles now you gotta replace it and why the other color one is not bad yet cus printer as will known will depend on black ink far more so the blackcartridge is heated up more times
In my case this happened with black cartridge out of ink, colour cartridge low; replaced black: had permanent alignment problem, though test print looked OK; wouldn't print black. Replaced colour cartridge, then it all worked OK, straightaway!
“All lights blinking and printer not responding” is
indicative of serious ink cartridge issue. Usually when this happens the
printer fails to goes through the motions of the printing process, kind of
stands still with indicator lights just blinking away. This could be as a
result of either of these scenarios. i.Ink cartridge
has developed incompatibility or is incompatible
The Solution is to try an older/another cartridge (doesn’t matter if ink
is finished. You must replace cartridge one at a time). If lights stop blinking
it confirms that your cartridge has become incompatible or developed
incompatibility. Also if your printer is the type that can work with only one
cartridge, remove one after the other (closing back the lid/cover) to determine
which in the set (black or color) has become incompatible. At the instance the
incompatible one is removed and you close the lid, the blinking will stop (for
printers that can print with one ink cartridge only). Just replace the
incompatible one and start printing again. In most cases the issue is always
with one cartridge. But if both are affected, you have to replace both. Because
of this type of problem, always keep used cartridges somewhere safe; they come
in handy for this type of troubleshooting. ii.The Cartridge
electronic panel is dirty
The electronic panel on the cartridge that makes contact with the
cartridge carrier inside the printer is dirty and needs cleaning. This electronic panel is front part of the
cartridge with copper “dots”.
The
Solution is to try to clean this panel with a piece of folded tissue paper
soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also try to clean the area in the
cartridge carrier/holder that makes contact with the cartridge’s electronic
panel (Usually this is more difficult). If you cannot reach it with your
fingers, use a stick or something with tissue wrapped around it. Allow to dry
well and return the cartridges, close the cover. The blinking should stop if
the electronic panel is the issue. Once the blinking stops the printer will
print.
..."Open the ink supply andgently move the ink cartridges to the left.
Then reach in to the rightside and you'll find a small (1/2 x 1 inch)
sponge. Push it down andoff/on the machine. try it now. or ...go to
where I found out more than I should know about Canon's and where I got

luck.
ITS NOT THE BLACK CARTRIDGE!!! Try changing the colour cartridge and see what happens. When a 9600 checks ink levels it does the black ink first, then the colour, if the colour is low it goes back and checks the black again but will constantly give an error message for the black cartridge. Sounds bizarre but try just the black cartridge in with no colour. print a test page in black only, if that does not print then it is a fault. Also make sure the driver is updated!!!
Are you out of ink? when you open the lid to the printer while it is turned on look at were your ink cartridge stops and that will tell you if you are out of colour or black ink. Which light is blinking the one on top of the paper symbol or the one on top of the ink symbol. It may be that your cartridge either black or white just need to be taken out and put back in I found that if I wiped the bottom of the ink cartridge where sometimes you get build up that it would work again or give it a shake but make sure you cover up the bottom were the ink comes out before you shake it. Hope this helps!
Most epson inkjets that use separate colour and black cartridges will not print if either the colour or the black cartridge is empty. The printers come with cartridges when new but they are only part full and more ink is used up filling the printer reservoir when first starting up. Replace your black cartridge and you should be able to print.
