Bunn airpot brewer: should brew 1/2 gallon & does not always stop (maybe overflows 4 out 5 brews). It seems as if maybe the timer resets again around 4 - 4.5 minutes and is overflowing around 1.5 minutes.

Depends on your model. The smaller pour over units are easy as you prep your funnel with coffee as normal and get a full pot of hot water (just brew the water through the brew head and funnel to fill the pot.) If you have another pot or carafe, air pump pot. Then hold the coffee filled funnel (with coffee filter) over the empty pot and slowly pour the hot water over the coffee grounds. Go slow as you don't want to burn your other hand nor get grounds into the pot if you over fill the filter.
* If this is a 1-1/2 gallon brewer then the missing shower head won't mater that much as most of the 'flavor' is extracted in the first 1/2 gallon with the rest just filling the urn. If you do find the coffee to be weak then perform 3 separate 1/2 gallon brews to allow the grounds to fully soak and extract. Again, you can still do it manually as described above but it does get messy and very slow. (I've done this just to get something out to the customer. Well until I could get the repaired brewer up and running.)
* Most of the Bunn decanter brewers use a quarter size screw on spray head. No real substitute, though you could try a stiff sheet of aluminum foil to cover the coffee grounds in the funnel and poke holes into it. Though more than likely one of the waiters will dump it on the next brew.
* On one occasion (during lunch rush) I had to wait on a repaired urn to heat up but the waiter's needed coffee now! I took a pour over small brewer and made a pot with 1/2 gallon strength coffee and poured it into a larger urn then brewed more 'partial' batches till it was full. Hey, got to do what needed to get it out.
* You should always check with your coffee vendor as spray heads are very common parts and available at your local restaurant supply. There are other brands that use the same parts too like bloomfield. Ask around as this is a fairly cheap part.

if you unscrew the top there's a rubber seal in there that you might have to replace that causes the leaks. also clean your coffee maker regularly with vinegar. my husband had to replace the seal in ours 4 times but after owning the same Bunn for 20 yrs it was time for a new one
First brew a pot without water, to find your current level. Next open the faucet and check the water flow, if it has a nice flow no stopping or spurting, then your water connection is good. Now adjust the brew level, the adjustment instructions are on the inside of the front panel. If after making adjustments you get the same result then the solenoid is blocked.
Have you tried resetting the brew volume(make sure board is not set to lock). The only other thing I can think of is replacing the timer board, because its not telling the solenoid to stop brewing.
Hello. Here is what could be happening. Your brew timer may be having a problem where it is re actuating on it's own, in which case it would need to be replaced, and re calibrated. The other possibility is that the start switch is making contact internally, and telling the brew timer to start again. Your unit does not show it having a level probe, so most likely it is not overflowing due to a flooding condition. After you brew, turn off the lower heat switch, this will remove power to the brew circuit, if the problem stops, then you know it is one of those 2 things, and I would try the start switch first, as it is a cheaper item to replace than the timer. Here is a link to your brewer manual with part #'s etc..
If this problem started after moving the machine, pull the machine out a little & look behind it for a kink in the tubing coming to the brewer. These brewers time the water coming through them, so if a kink is restricting the water flow, running the same amount of time equals much less coffee in the airpot.
