Dvd writer is not reading the dvd's
but it reads the cd well

Then it could be possible that u r DVD drive lens speed get dameged or not stable there is a small and round type of thing what u have to do is u have to adjust that lens speed by rotating or u have to increase the speed of the lens but it is risky i will not sugesst u to do so let the professional do that reparing thing and thanx for u r instent reply i apriciated.

The laser may just be dirty. DVD reguires a narrower more precise laser then CD discs. Try a cleaning disc .

DEAR BITTU-8 I AM NOT SURE WHAT MAKE IT IS AS IT CAME WITH COMPUTER ALREAY INSTALLED BUT IT IS A DELL COMPUTER IF THAT HELPS AT ALL .BUT IT IS DVD-R W IT WAS WORKING OK UNTILL RECENTLY THANKYOU FOR YOU HELP

Please let me know that is it new one. pls check properly whether it is a DVD writer or CD writer Because i think u have checked 10 to 15 DVDs but the problem remains same tell me what is the brand name of that DVD writer or CD writer.
