Change the channel or code setting. It's also possible the 'pairs" for your house and your neighbors are "crossed". Does it happen with all phones or just the cordless one. If it's all phones, the problem is in the phone lines.
No dial tone on telephone set? could mean alot of things. Phone went bad, jack is bad(test in different jack or from a network interface, either inside or outside. depending what your dwelling is)
Just to point out a fact, when dial from your mobile to that number that has no dialtone, that ringing sound you hear is from the central office that is putting out that ringing, it has nothing to do with the phone you're trying to ring to. You would hear the ringing sound, even if all your phones were unplugged from every jack in your dwelling.
This is probably because dial tones and ringing tones are part of an archaic system. Your cell phone still makes these noises as a courtesy, and you hear the dial tones/ringing tones when you make regular calls because your phone is communicating with the standard phone system.
Turn off your phone and then remove the battery. Press the power on button of your phone without the battery, just hold it for a few seconds. This will drain static electricity on your phone. After that, place the battery back and then power on your phone. See if it works.
I can't talk or hear outta my phone. I can dial people but i cant hear them and they cant hear. My phone model Cordless 5.8GHz Edge Dual Handset Phone System with Caller ID:
Sounds like the switching mechanism that creates the link is stuck. When you answer your phone, you allow the voltage to complete it's path and you either answer the phone or you hear dial tone. If that switch is stuck closed, even though you hung up the phone, the connection is still alive. When you try to pick the phone back up later, the connection is still closed, but your phone has already passed it's "if you would like to make a call" message and you hear no dial tone. Unplugging the power to the phone resets this switch and all is good again.....that is until it gets stuck again. I have seen this problem with phones after a near lightening strike at the house. Sounds like you need to get a new phone as I don't think this is repairable.
