Since apple drives are formatted in HSF+, a file system that windows cannon read, the chances of it even being bossible to run anything on it from a PC is very very slim.

Reinstalling system software

Good question, the wall street is the same as the Pismo. A great and simple machine. I recommend using os x 10.4 as the highest level. You install the system disc in the optical drive and restart it from its pop up menu. then it will prompt you for each step. You can also hold down the option key on startup to select the disc to boot from.

There is a list of key commands on apple support. Easy way to do it is to just let the disk prompt you after it restarts.

Usb not recognized on macintosh powerbook g3

The Powerbook G3 will be using the original USB architecture and I suspect that your flash drives are using USB 2 and are not backwards compatible, so sorry I don't really think it is possible.

When I power up my PowerBook G4, I hear the startup chime but the screen stays black, nothing happens!! Is my screen turned off or something?

It seems likely that the PMU (Power Management Unit) has failed and needs to be reset. There are comprehensive instructions on how to do this at the apple support site. Apple Support: PMU reset

How do I connect to the internet via WIFI with a MAC Powerbook G3 laptop?

The easiest way if your Powerbook doesn't come equipped with an Airport card or isn't capable of supporting an Airport card is to purchase this http://www.sonnettech.com/product/aria_extreme.html it slides into the PCMIA slot on your Powerbook G3 (the credit card sized slot on the side of your Powerbook G3). There's support issues and model variations on older Powerbook G3's regarding Airport Card support and they're not as readily available as a standard PCMIA wireless card. This is my best suggestion for your situation.

Apple Macintosh PowerBook G3 Start-up problem

Your mac doesn't recognize the system folder. Try to find the original boot disks that came with the machine, and see if you can mount the hard disk while booting from the CDs. If you can, I'd backup the data as soon as possible and reinstall the operating system, including a full hard drive reformat. If you can't see the hard drive from the boot cd, another option is to hold down the T key during startup to boot the mac into "target disk mode" - this will allow you to hook up the g3 to another computer as an external hard disk in order to back up the data.

I have ibook G3 running os x, installed. I been having problems getting the screen to start up and when it does the screen freezes a few minutes later.(the screen goes blurry or statically and stops...

It sounds like the system is corrupted. With an install disk try starting the mac up holding down the c key on the keyboard. If the screen is working properly on startup, see if the hard drive is showing up. If it is, try reinstalling the system software making sure that you do not reformat the hard drive but preserve users

The circular timer startup screen NEVER STOPS! Powerbook G4

Hi

Safe Boot is a special way to start up in Mac OS X 10.2 or later when troubleshooting. Safe Mode is the state Mac OS X is in after a Safe Boot. To perform a Safe Boot, hold the SHIFT key as your Mac starts up.

Some features don't work in Safe Mode Safe Mode can be useful for troubleshooting. However, certain Mac OS X features do not work in Safe Mode. For example, you can't use DVD Player, capture video in iMovie, use audio input or output devices, or use an internal or external USB modem. The behavior of some devices such as an AirPort card may vary depending on computer and Mac OS X version.
Safe Mode in Mac OS X 10.5 or later also disables Quartz Extreme (hardware accelerated graphics). Applications that depend on Quartz Extreme will not open, and the Mac OS X menu bar will appear solid even if "Translucent Menu Bar" is enabled in Desktop & Screen Saver preferences.

I have a Powerbook G3. Gets power but does not boot up.

It may not be a fan, it may be the cd drive spinning up. Is there a cd in it?

Powerbook g4 going to white screen only!!

Do you have any external harddrive attached to it? If so, remove it before restarting. Try to start it up in safe mode by holding the Shift button down at startup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
