I have a Sharp Projector model XG-E3000U that won't power on. Nothing happens at all when you turn it on. No lights, no fan, nothing. I opened it up and checked the fuse and that's good. Is there a reset button inside somewhere? I had another projector that did this and all it was was a reset button inside. I can't find one in this one though. Maybe it's buried somewhere. Please help.

SOURCE: Sharp XG-E650UB LCD Projector

Absolutely, they are designed to do so. You will need a svideo cable for video if your laptop doesn't have a parallel port for external monitor. Most projectors have svideo and parallel ports to use them as monitors. If using the external monitor option you select the alt/enter buttons to display on projector.

1,Check the fans ,whether each fan is running, when you turn on the projector
2,if the fans run, then ,check the lamp or lamp ballast

Replaced bulb in Sharp XG-E1200U, the red power light comes on, when I turn the switch on nothing happens.

When the XG-E1200U shows the standby light but does not power on, it usually means several of the 100uf 16 Volt surface mount capacitors have dried up on the main board. Recommend replacing all of these for continued reliability.

PG-C45X projector wont power on

To solve this problem, simultaneously press the "Input", "Enter", and "Undo" buttons. While holding these buttons, press "On". When the project turns on, you should see "LAMP 100%". This indicates that you have successfully reset the lamp life timer.
