Jenn air jcd2389ges side by side refrigerator replaced filter and then had water leaking from bottom at rear of unit. Leaks only when I use water dispenser on door or when icemaker uses water.
Thanks.
Brad
Sounds like a leak where your incoming water line hooks to the water valves might just need to tighten the coupling or a mouse has chewed through one or both of the lines access the lines on the back and watch while some one gets water out the door to locate the leak
are you finding the water inside the fridge or out side on the floor?
look in the floor of your freezer compartment for ice or water if none is there see if the drain tube is blocked with algae i mean now were getting some where so you just assumed it was happing when the water was used from the ice and water system ?
lets chat a little more is there a plastic line on back of your fridge from one of the water valves up to the top of the freezer side into a rubber tube and no the ice fill and dispenser lines are separate look at the bottom hinge of the freezer door or the top and see if there isn't a line there we will find it if you work with me
also do you have mice and have you put out poison
great picture it helps a bunch the place where its leaking is from the defrost drain system and its sealed to the cabinet at the defrost drain pan ive never seen one leak now the red valve is to the water dispenser and the green goes to the icemaker and as you can see the dispenser line goes under the fridge now what i think is happing and ive seen it before is there is a tiny crack or split in the line from the red valve in the loop where it goes under the fridge and when you operate the dispenser water is spraying up on the defrost drain tube put your hand in between the loop and the defrost drain tube have your wife get water from the dispenser and see if you feel water on the back of your hand. The question about the mice is standard if you put out poison it makes them crazy with thirst and they will chew through any thing to get water that's why i always recommend using copper for the house water line to the ice maker if they chew one on the fridge no big deal but if they chew the incoming water from the house it can be quite a mess before you get home and shut the water off

Here was my solution. When I had the water filter in water would dispense from the door as usual, but at the same time fill (or overfill) the ice maker. When I put the dummy plug back in the filter spot.....no leak.

Thanks Tech17 but the leak is internal to the refrigerator. I was behind the unit, with the lower panel removed and had my wife use the water dispenser. The water seemed to be coming from inside where the hose goes up into the freezer. Any other ideas? Thanks again.
On the floor. The inside is dry and so is the drip pan. I checked the hose from the bottom to the drip pan and it is clear but the water seems to be coming out of where it leaves the bottom of the freezer. Thanks for the help!!!!!
Thanks Tech17 and I really appreciate the time... It is really obvious when water is dispensed. It pours out. Otherwise, I just don't see anything. The first time the flooding happened, I looked at the bottom of the freezer and refrigerator sections to see if there was a puddle, but alas it was dry and still is. The leaking is coming from inside the freezer back wall somewhere. Is there a single hose up to both the icemaker and door water dispenser and could it be cracked? Or something else common to both that is up inside the freezer?
Sorry but I will need to get back to you later since I am not near the refrigerator and have exceeded my memory. Thanks!
By the way, I don't have mice and the hose from the wall is armored flexible tubing.
Tech17, I looked at the back of the refrigerator and there are 3 water lines on the back. 2 to the back of the refrigerator, near the top and 1 to the back of the freezer, near the top. The attached photo shows where to water is leaking from when water is dispensed (red arrow).
.
My freezer door leaks water at the bottom between the door panel and gasket. The water is coming from the door itself, and Only after the water dispenser is used. We have stopped using it and there is no more leaking, but would like to use the dispenser. All the visible tubing is intact, including the tubing that enters the door. What is my next move? thanks Lola
Noticed water seeping out from under refrigerator.
Moved frig, and found that the side of floor under freezer side had been saturated with water for some time.
Brand new wood flooring put under the refrigerator about six months
ago is now discolored and bowed up!
Can you please very simply go step by step through what I could and should check to determine what my problem is...given that I have NO mechanical skills and NO tools.
I can't even find the drip pan, or the "drain tube" mentioned in the above comments, in the floor of the compartment.
I have noticed there is ice on the floor of the freezer side, not cubed, but like water leaked there and froze.
Whenever the refrigerator tries to make ice the water drips down the back of the refrigerator and ends up on the floor. I get no ice because all of the water is ending up on the floor. I can dispense water with no leaking. How do I troubleshoot and fix? I can turn off the ice maker and no water leaks on the floor.
change water filter
it may be the filter? not sure where it is. Just stopped working - water line is fine.
looks like something ate through the tubing in the back connected to the water. How do I turn the water off at the wall?
