Whirlpool, water puddles on top shelf of fridge

3 year old Whirlpool with Freezer on top, single temp control... recently, puddles of water appear on top shelf of fridge, can see droplets on ceiling of fridge. Thought it was thawing overflow from freezer above, but determined that is NOT where water is coming from. Suggestions?!?!?!?

If it is not from a plugged or misaligned defrost drain tube, then it is always from air leaking into your refer section. Check you door gasket to see if it is sealing correctly all around your door. Make sure your door is shutting tightly every time. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

The defrost water drips into a drain trough in the freezer compartment. To get to this, you remove the back panel of your freezer from inside the freezer. Check to see if there is ice built up under your evaporator. The drain trough is under the aluminum coils and has a drain tube in it that drains the water from the defrost cycle. If this is plugged then ice builds up, overflows and drips into the refer section. Clear any ice out, using hot water or a pump up garden sprayer. If this is not the problem then you will need to remove the control box or air baffles that are in the refer section and directly under the drain. Check to see if the line is clear here, or if there is a cup that is plugged up here. Whirlpool has many different drain designs and without the model number I can't tell exactly how this drains. Pull the refrigerator out and see if there is a drain tube on the back wall of the unit. Disconnect and see if it is plugged, or the part that it connects to is plugged. Sometimes you need to blow this section out. Good luck, Appliance Specialists

Water dripping inside KTLA22EMSS01

Your freezer actually cools your fridge. It sounds like you have ice build up in your freezer behind the back panel. You should be able to unscrew the back wall inside your freezer. A hair dryer should help defrost or keep it open for a few and use a screwdriver to remove the build up of ice. The ice has made its way down the vent and when it hits the fridge it is above 32 degrees so it is melting. Hope this helps. I manage rental properties and have had it happen on a few occasions.

Items in frig freeze

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Here's a diagram of your fridge controls and parts.

Water inside refrigerator

Even though it doesn't seem like it's coming from your freezer, morre than likely that's where it's coming from. At the back of the fridge there will be a drip tray that actually catches the water from the thawing freeze. One way to avoid access water is to simply turn down your freezer and fridge. Usually if they are number 0-10, both frigde and freezer should be set on the 5 level.

My refridgerator leaks water every two weeks

check to make sure the drain pan is in the right place. If it puddles up inside the bottom of the fridge first, your drain hole is plugged up. for this, you wil have to remove the access panel in the back of the freezer side to get to the drain hole. you may also have a crack in your drain pan.

Fridge and freezer warm at top, colder but not normal on lower shelves

How old is this frig? If it is older that 12-15 years, get a new one. Make sure there is not blockage to keep the air from circulating properly. The vent from the freezer to the cooler should also be free from blockage as well.
