Bought an Avocent Switchview DVI KVM.

XP Display turns off after switching to Win 7 display

The XP machine an an ATI RADEON x600 card

The Window7 machine has an ATI RADEON HD 4350.

When setting up the switch, I go back and forth -- the Windows 7 machine always displays, the XP machine never displays after the switch has been used.

Search for WIN 7 & KVM switch issues... you will find thousand of hits, because WIN 7 has one unique feature where it disables internal and external ports if these are not in use.

In a KVM solution setup this would mean, while you are connected everything is fine, now when you switch over to your (Lets say) WIN XP and work for 30 minutes on it... and then switch back, WIN 7 might have already scanned and seen that the USB port where the KVM cable comes in is IDLE... so it disconnected it... you cannot get it back until you reboot your WIN 7 system. Its not the KVM solution is one of those Microsoft wonder weapons that breaks what has worked for 20 years

I have a video card radeon hd 2400 series for vista 64 bit compatibility, will it work on xp 32? what can i do to make it work?

Hi There,
Yes it will work with Windows XP operating system.
1. If you're going to change the Vista operating system to WIN XP 32bit, you have to find WIN XP 32bit drivers for *********** board as well as the HD2400. Install Xp 32 bit
2. For HD 2400 drivers just click the link. ATI The link includes Catalyst, OpenCL and Display drivers.
3. Wait for the download to finish, Run the 32bit display driver and follow onscreen messages reboot if prompted.

A. If you're going to use it in another machine just download the display driver and attach the graphic card.

Hopefully this information helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Avocent KVM switch keeps turning off and on, blinking, then turning itself off again. Is it in a display mode??? When it comes up, it will display the video output from the computer. KVM...

the switch should beep if you switch between channels or Ports.

It seems that you might want to download the manual and try to reset the unit. If this doesn't work call their support. Avocent has free support as far as I know.

Hi, i have a Avocent SwitchView, Tried connecting to a user Monitor, KYB and Mouse then connected two monitor cables in A and B. Nothing seemd to be displayed. By the way i didn;t connect the power.

Hi Steven,

the power is or will be needed. Your unit is a single monitor... are you trying to make it a dual screen setup?

What is the target OS... ? How are you connecting *(USB or PS2) to the PC?

-If you use PS2 you might have to reboot your PC
Is the PC DVI or VGA?

I hope that helps getting you up and running

I need to download ATI Display drivers for my Toshiba tecra S211 but i m not getting it on the net

ATI uses drivers called Catalyst Drivers. The ATI card you have is the ATI Mobility Radeon X600. Go to this link;

http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Select your Vista or XP or whatever your Operating System is from the first list. Then in the second list, select mobiltiy radeon. Then Mobility Radeon X600 from the third list. Then click GO.

Then on the next page use the installation verification software. Once it verifys your hardware is compatible with the driver, it should download and install it.
