The broiler element never turns off. I can unplug the range and/or flip the breaker off, let it sit for any amount of time, and when I plug it back in and flip the breaker back on the broiler element starts glowing red hot again. And, the digital display says the oven is not even on. I also get an error code that says the oven temp has gotten too hot...but that is obvious because the only way to turn the element off is to unplug the stove.
You need a new mother-board.
I had the same issue, it overheated my kitchen in a matter of minutes. If I didn't turn off the circuit-breaker, I probably would have had a fire - the heat being emitted was intense. The cost is running around $300. with tax and delivery. I'm not sure if I want to repair or purchase a new oven.
The problem is caused by a shorted BROIL relay on the Electronic Oven Control board. I have experienced this problem before. The oven will continue to heat because it's being provided a constant power source. You are right to assume the reason for the oven temp error. This is common too.
Here's a TEMPORARY fix you can try:
1. Secure power to the range and remove the back panel from the console.
2. Unplug the BROIL element wires from the EOC and wrap them with electrical tape. It should be marked on the circuit card.
This will leave your broiler out of service, but you should be able to use the bake function. This should only be a TEMPORARY fix. The real fix is to replace the EOC. In the mean time, DO NOT leave the range plugged in while not in use (especially, if you are not going to be home, or while sleeping). This could be a definite fire hazard. If you post back with your model number (located around the oven door, or bottom drawer opening) I can give you an idea of how much the EOC would cost, and give you advice on how to replace it.
You can find the oven control board under item # 938995 at repairclinic.com. The cost is aout $286. The part isn't cheap, but it's a repair that can be accomplished by the average consumer and the repair could cost you a lot more with added labor costs. Double check your warranty to determine when the rnage was purchased. There could be a chance that this still may be covered. You may be able to find the part cheaper at other sites, or inquire at your local parts store. If you decide to replace the board follow these steps:
1. Unplug the range.
2. Remove the rear access panel from the console.
3. Write down the wiring locations, or a digital camera may come in handy for this.
4. Remove the wiring being careful not to pull on the wires - pull on the lugs.
5. Remove the mounting screws that hold the control board in place.
6. The new board may not come with the overlay (this is the plastic piece the covers the front of the board with all the printing on it. This can be reused. Carefully remove the overlay and place it on the new board.
7. Install new control board using care not to handle the board components as much as possible.
8. Reconnect all wiring.
9. Reinstall back panel.
I hope this isn't discouraging to you...

Thanks for the help. The model number is 95002102.
Exactly the same issue with our Sears Kenmore Electric Stove. Broiler came on and would not shut off when attempting to start the OVEN.Finally flipped the circuit breaker OFF and have not attempted to turn on since. Definately concerned as to what could have happened had we NOT been home!
we have a kenmore self cleaning range and it keeps on beeping F1 and F3 anytime we bake anything is there a temp fix for this and if you know what the problem is can you tell us and maybe give us an idea on a cost for a full fix..or if we are better off buying a new set?
We've had the same problem with our Kenmore 665.95014100 range. The
broiler came on and caused the oven to overheat with E2 -F3- error. The
only way to shutdown was to trip breaker. Found a technician guide on back of range and checked ohm reading on oven
sensor probe and it showed within range (1000-2600 depending on oven temperature). Checked voltage from neutral
to broil connection with breaker on but oven not turned on and it
showed 120VAC (broiler was full on), which I've read if you have any voltage means control
board is faulty.
Dittos, almost burned the house down, set oven for 350 degrees, but broiler turned on, only way to shut down broiler was at circuit breaker...Class action suit?????
Same problem this week with Kenmore model 665.95002102. Baking at 350, broiler came on full temp. and only way to shut it down is with the breaker.
Almost burned the kitchen down today when the broiler over would not come on until Gary finally turned off the breaker. Had I been alone, I probably wouldn't have known what to do but panic...and since this is Sunday, our local Sears store is closed! I'm so angry and wonder if anyone knows whether the Model 95002102 was the one that was recalled or involved class action suit which was recently settled. ?? By the time you pay for the replacement part and the time expended for someone to replace it, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy another range? I'm not buying Sears again!
I had the same problem. Did you oven experience problems before that? On three different ocassions when I turned on the oven I got a popping sound and one day I actually saw sparks from the part where you push to turn on the oven.
I have model # 665.95781000, purchased in 2000. Same problem with the broiler turning on and not shutting down until either unplugged or flipped the breaker. Discovered that the sensor may need replacing. I took off the back panel and the sensor was easy to take off by removing 2 screws. A new sensor costs approx $75.00. Will take the old sensor to the local appliance store to get analyzed. net Sears.
broiler will not go off, f3 code
BRoiler oven is on ,but bake lite on as should be.indicate low temp setbut broiler very very hot
