Blue lines when i finished recording and then put it on play it plays but has blue line across the screen

  • stpan Feb 11, 2008

Have tried head cleaner but still having difficulty playing back tapes and will get blue horizontal lines at times. I think this is a recurring problem with maybe this model. I had to have this camcorder fixed for same problem within 7 months of buying it. Very disappointing.

I have the same issue. I hook it up to my video editor and blue lines! It comes and goes... best thing that worked for me is to knock it against the desk. Not hard. I don't really like the camera. My Cannon Optura 100mc is far superior. Get one on ebay for $150.

Lines across screen on playback.

A Q-tip should never be used to clean a video head.  Unfortunately they can pull the tiny head out of alignment.  I believe this is your problem and the repaid may be more costly than a new purchase.

Blue lines in play mode

This is not a problem with the tape but the camera. The only way to fix it seems to be to find an empty spot on the tape or a spot you don’t care if you record over. Then record for a second then go to video mode and you can play the tape without the blue lines. Or buy something else to play the tapes which should be fine either way. Darn camera !
