I've somehow managed to delete my sound device on my windows vista pc. Where can i download a new one for free and whats the best one to get?

You didn't delete the sound device itself... You deleted the software telling your computer how to run the physical sound device on your motherboard. If you know what the name of the one you have is.. you can go out to the manufacturers website and download it's drivers. If your using a Major brand computer chances are the drivers exist at the computer manufactures website under their support section for the model of computer you have.

My computer's sound does't work after formatting what shall i do

Go to the Compaq website. Use the support option. You should be able to find your system there with a list of drivers for it. Try the sound drivers one by one until you find the one that works. Make sure you delete the ones that do not work and keep only the good one. Hope this helps.

My sound drives get uninstalled

First delete whatever is causing the problem from device manager. When the computer restarts you may find that the correct driver is installed. If not then you could try this driver http://www.download.com/C-Media-CMI8738-WDM-Driver-Windows-XP-/3000-2120_4-10495783.html
