Over the past few weeks we've begun noticing water leaking from the underside of the washer. It's at more-or-less the centre of the washing machine close to the back, although it's hard to confirm just how far back the leak is without being able to lift the machine to look. The washer is 2 years, 8 months old, and the leak happens throughout the washing cycle while the drum is full. Has anyone had an experience with this one?

Here is the answer !!! My LG front loader has leaked once a year for the past 4 years. The rubber bellows (a part underneath the washer) cracks and causes the leak. DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE USING TOO MUCH DETERGENT ... THAT JUST AN EXCUSE !!! The part costs around $12. Here's the link ...

This is absolutely correct... We've an entire suite of LG appliances and although they've all needed at least one repair, the washer and dryer have been problem free until just recently (they're 3 years old now). We started seeing a very small amount of standing water under the washer (not much, but enough to do damage to the wood cabinet they're on.) We called LG ("you're using too much soap"), then called our repair man (can't find a leak). After seeing your response I checked the bellows myself, and you were right on, there was a very very small crack in it. I changed it myself (tipped the machine on it's side --- easy access) and voila... no more leak. Thanks!

The leak we had with our LG was not the bellows. It was coming from a split hose, the hose that is under an access panel on the front of the machine. Seems that when they were assembling the unit they cut the hose with the pressure clamp where it attaches to the inside of the machine. Had to cut a small portion of the hose and reattach it with the pressure clamp. Wasn't easy.
Happy to say that I have successfully prevented 15 people from purchasing the LG front load washer by telling them about the leaking and mold issues.
Solution Number 3 was right on. And you can get the bellows part from the Repair Center that Solution Number 3 indicated. Repair Center was great, shipped it out the same day. I ordered 2 of the bellows, in anticipation that this will happen again. Only thing I would state is that you can tip the washer on its side and access the bellows from underneath. This keeps you from having to take the entire washing machine apart.

Where to start? All LG machines are garbage! Washer, Dryer, and Dishwasher never worked from day 1. I tried to contact Best Buy ( I won't shop there again) to trade back even for my old Whirlpool machines. LG Cusomer Service is useless. Dishwasher does not wash or dry, the utencil basket cannot handle knives or handles down without them poking through. The Dryer dries 80% of the time. The Washer leaks, leaves clothes wet and water in the soap dispenser. All of the machines take about 3 hours to get done what my last machines could do in 1 or less, how is that energy efficient?
I suggest taking the top panel off (2 screws in back leave the plastic piece on the lid). push hard back and lift lid off. now you can look in from the top. look for soap residue to see if water is leaking down the side of the cabnet. if none is evident check hoses. what makes you so sure its in the middle/back. if you only notice it during the wash cycle you may have to go in back and take off the panel check around the bearing behind the pulley in the tub, could be leaking
I don't know what you guys are calling a bellow however a bellow is not 12 dollars. Lg is one of the best front loaders out there and no l do not work for lg
I have to say something about our LG1814CW. We've had it for about 8 years and it has just started to leak, which brought me here to this page. Thanks for all your suggestions, folks. But 8 years in dry, dry Arizona is not too bad!!
I had the same problem - twice. It was a tiny hole in the bellows. They seem to be using some cheap material and it makes it prone to holes. The first time I had a repair guy fix it (warranty) and the second time I fixed it. You can buy the bellows from a parts store. I managed to do it without the special clamp wrench but it would make it a lot easier if you had it. It is unfortunate on such an expensive machine that they went with such cheap materials.
The LE code was for an overheated motor (per the LG help line). We had to unplug the machine for 30-60 minutes. We had clothes in the machine and had to run a Rinse cycle with no spin per the help line. We have not had the problem any longer, but we wash smaller loads now.
D'ear kaycov i'm having the same problem le code won't spin either way and it did leak a bit before this I was hoping to get a solution too. My machine is a LG front loader and is only a couple years old. We figure we'd finally get a more expensive machine but are very sorry the old fashion machines rarely broke down and if they did we could at least fix ourselves. I agree with you i'll never buy that kind or brand again. It is a pity they do'nt give more info on the problem shooters of these modern day appliances Best of luck

I have an lg front loader with the same problem. I am not using too much soap and have water intermittently on the floor--- lots of it. the warranty person could not find a problem.... blamed me and said to call back if it happens again. the washer is only a few months old and they are scheduled for tomorrow.
Le code and won't spin either way. it has been leaking for the last couple months, only small amount but a nusiance. any ideas, if i have to buy a new one it will not be this brand.

I have this same problem. Sometimes I have suds...that is rare. Mostly just water. I haven't figured out what cycle it's happening in but I do know it's coming from the underneath side. We have checked the hose and the filter they are fine. It also doesn't seem to be happening everytime, every few loads. Also there is always extra water in the liquid soap dispenser. I use HE laundry soap and don't even fill it half way. I do get the LE code every once in a while also. I usually can only put three beach towells in at one time if I put more in then I usually get an error code. Not overly Happy with this machine. I have had it for 18 months.

When I moved the machine away from the wall to remove the top cover (not an easy chore), I noticed a thin line of water running down the back of the machine from the cold water connection. It was a loose connection that I was able to carefully tighten using a wrench, and it's working fine now.

Malleigh- I haven't seen the LE error code but I have encountered suds leaking onto the floor in the past. When we spoke to the appliance repair people they suggested we were using too much soap. They also suggested we do a test- run a wash cycle using only water (i.e. empty, with ** clothes or soap added). If we still see soap suds then we've been using too much soap in our washing machine. When we tried this we did see soap suds in the water, so we **w use much less soap and have had ** more problems of that particular kind since.
Incidentally, when we had the 'suds' problem we were using "Tide HE" soap and we WERE following the directions on the bottle re: how much to use. We cut the soap we use by at least half (my wife says we cut it down to a quarter the suggested amount, and since she's usually right I'll defer to her), and the washing quality hasn't suffered at all. With the HE washers, the expression "less is more" definitely applies!

I also have suds coming from the bottom of my washer too! Plus I have water in the soap dispenser & mold forming. The tubes in the back are fine & the walls are dry; its from somewhere underneath the washer. This all happened just past the warranty!
My washer has the dryer stacked on top. Has anyone tried to unstack the machines? How many people did you need? I would like to check the washer before I spend a lot of money on a repair guy but I’m guesses I need 2 repair guys just to unstack them!

I have this same problem. It leaks water from underneath. When in warranty the repairman said nothing was wrong with it, maybe using to much soap... It is only about 2 years old.
And the water does seem to be coming from the center on the bottom. It is not flooding but enough water to cause problems...help!
We spent over $3700 for an LG TROM series Washer and Dryer and the Washer has been leaking from day 1. We also have the mold problem others have complained about. Although LG was no help at all, I do have the satisfaction of telling everyone I see looking at the LG products at the local stores to stay away from their products. I am happy to say I have personally prevented 6 sales of LG products to customers. Payback is a beyatch LG.
Try using 2 tbl. sp. at the very most! I'll bet your leaking stops.
