You can't.

In Auto Pict mode the camera selects the best of the pre-set Scene modes for the photograph which you're about to take. It's basically a variation of fully automatic mode, so the camera selects everything for you.

Auto Pict and Auto are designed to let anyone pick up your camera and take a fully automated snapshot without needing to worry about what settings to use.

To alter the shutter speeds you need to select an appropriate mode such as shutter priority or manual.

If you use 'P' mode you get most of the advantages of the auto mode, but can change shutter speed.

Hi, have pentax k100 d, like new taken very good care of. Stored with batteries removed. Now all I get are low sound clicks firing only when button is pressed. Went into menu and opened shutter and turned...

Sounds like your shutter is stuck. Given that the camera is only worth about $100 -- or even less -- it's probably not worth sending in for repair. You can buy a good used "upgrade" like the K200 or even the K-50 for about what a shutter replacement would cost.

My Pentax K100 DSLR is flashing "av" and will not take a photograph, though the shutter works fine and takes pictures without the lens.

"AV" means apeture priority. This means that you set the apeture that the camera will use, and it decides the shutter speed. The flashing "av" means that you've picked an apeture that the camera can't pick a suitable shutter speed for at this light level. I would suggest picking a different apeture, or switch the camera to full automatic mode via the dial on the top left of the camera.

I have a Pentax ME Super and whenever I press the shutter button down, regardless of whether it's in auto, manual or 125x mode the shutter will stay open for the amount of time my finger holds down the...

One old camera. You have an electronic shutter and mechanical (backup) so you may have a dead electronic shutter. I would check the battery and contacts. If they are good... the shutter is bad. You have a standard K-mount body, any lenes will fit any Pentax camera, film or digital. The lenses will go on more modern Pentax bodies but will not auto-focus if on an AF body. These bodies are some 25+ years old, many places are selling them for $30 or so.. there are just thousands out there. If you want to stick with film, go for a newer AF body and you can still manually focus.

I recently shot three rolls of color film with my ZX-7 in auto pict mode and all the negatives turned out blank (underexposed). What happened?

lens cap ? ;-]

Did you have the asa film speed set correctly? Thats usually the cause unless your battery isn;t quite right.

Pentax K100 Super D clicks, but no pictures.

Hate to say it, but it's dead. My Pentax K100 D Super did the same thing. Took it to the local camera shop. They scratched their heads and sent the body to Pentax. The reply that came back was that the circuit board was completely fried and it would cost more to fix than it would to buy a new body.

I was out of luck because the warranty was out (had it a year and a half), but with yours being less than a year, you should be able to get a new body without having to shell out $$$.

Pentax ME Super Shutter and Rapid Wind Button won't release

Common fault due to perished rubber parts. Can be usually be repaired, but do not try to force the camera, that may cause damage which can not.

Go to http:/www.mypentax.com for information on how to service this yourself. The author can also advise by mail, and can service these cameras too.

SHUTTER HESITATION

May be the problem is with the lens. Put a maximum aperture say f 22 then press the shutter, if the leaves of the diaphragm shuts and opens fast ten your lens is OK
.If there is any oily appearance between the leaves of the diaphragm then it should be cleaned.

Pentax S4 no flash problem

Well this camera has no manual controls so it's merely compensating for the lack of available light by lowering the shutter speed. I don't think there's very much you can do about it -- maybe you can try to lower the EV -/+ setting (I forget what it's called, it makes your image darker or brighter). If the camera didn't lower the shutter speed you would simply get dark pictures where you can't see anything
