Dell Inspiron adapter problem

My old laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1705. I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with the laptop but after talking with dell representatives and searching the internet, I still have not come to a solid conclusion. So here is the problem: One day I plugged the charger into my laptop and a very high pitched noise began. I couldn't stand the noise so I went to unplug the charger and when I did so the laptop shut down completely. I then had to put up with the noise whenever I was on my laptop but very soon after this problem started I noticed another problem beginning. I am not sure how exactly they connect, but as time went on my computers screen gradually became dark with a very red tint to it. I can't use my laptop during the day because even when it is set to maximum brightness I can barely see anything. Now I have a few different adapters and each adapter I use the laptop still has the problem. When I do not use the computer for days at a time and turn it back on the screen is perfectly clear but as soon as the charger is plugged in, it is only a matter of time till it turns dark and red again. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice! Thank you!

Sounds to me like its a motherboard issue, especially with the randomness of everything and different adapters causing same issues. Get the motherboard replaced if the laptop is still under warranty.

DELL E1705 model. When connecting AC adapter, even before pressing power button, led in power adapter goes off immediately. Why ? The power adapter is OK. When connected with Battery, no switch-on.

Since the system is not working ion both battery and the adaptor it could be a faulty motherboard.. Call dell @18006249896 if you are in warranty.. Contact local tech if thr\e system is out of warranty....

Dell inspiron e1705 did factory restore then screen went black now what do i do?

Since you did factory install, Might probably that's the recovery partition you used, Try to restart computer, if does not work, turn it off, unplug ac adapter and battery then drain residual power of laptop by pressing the power button for 5 secs, then put the ac adapter and battery again. If it still doesn't work, try to run diagnostics first if it fails then you'll need to replace a part, if it passes then you'll need to do operating system re-installation manually.

Dell Inspiron E1705 monitor changes brightness

If you have your Dell driver disc have to uninstall the video adapter driver and reinstall it. Restart the laptop and observe if things still happening. No need to do an update for the video driver though on this regard. Or on the other hand try to do a System Restore. Restoring your computer profile/settings on the previous date that it was working fine. But before you gonna do that have to back-up first the important files that you have to your external hard drive or USB flash drive. Hope these things help. Thank you.

Dell power adapter

Does the after market adapters have the same voltage and at least the same amp. rating (can be more) as the original Dell adapter?
If they have less amps then it would explain why they are burning out because they are overloaded.

If the adapters are equivalent or better than the original DELL adapter then there is something wrong with the laptop which is causing it to draw more power (amps) than normal and it needs to be checked out.
