When the model 41 comeson it makes a woolf sound..also the window is sooted up..can you help?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Is it a toyostove laser 30 or a monitor 41? Hard to tell from your post, it says laser 30 in the title but model 41 in the question. If it is a monitor 41 the burner mat is probably loose. That will cause the sound you a hearing. Also check burner for carbon buildup. The soot usually indicates not enough fresh air getting to the burner.

If the burner mat is loose it will make that sound. A loose burner mat will also cause a soot problem. The soot can also be caused by too little air flow thru the burner.

My Woolf 900 generator starts fine initially. When put on load (600w) it is reluctant to get up to speed (45secs) but eventually gets there. When load is taken off it doesn't go back to idle and event

Does it have and automatic idle? If so cut it off and see if engine can run at 3600rpm no load. If still stalls, your jets(brass tube) have something blocking holes and carb needs either a real good clean in a dip, rebuilding, or replacing.

I noticed soot in my lp gas oven that had been clean. concerned when it started to ruin my food I decided to run the self cleaning cycle again. My whole house filled with toxic soot. My eyes were on fire...

Normally soot is from a range that hasn't been converted for the gas type, like natural or propane. It may be set up for natural when you're on propane or visa versa. Has this range ever worked properly without sooting?

Teledyne Laars EPC-400 lights about 2% of the time I turn it on.

You may want to pull your pilot assembly out and clean it. If you have one. Some of these had a problem with soot building up on the pilot and that would cause the ignition spark to flow threw the soot ball that would build and you would hear a buzz rather than a spark. So no spark no ignition. After it tries a number of times the soot will move enough to let it light, but will build more soot and make it worse for the next time. If this is the problem this will reoccur and you can just set yourself to clean it now and again or the replacement has been improved to allow mor air to keep it from sooting. I hope this helps, good luck.
