If this is for the transmission you can use an oil with an iso weight of iso-460 and if this is for the planetary gears than that is an iso-150 weight oil. Both are extreme pressure oils. You can get these from Grainger, Fastenal for a lower price than going directly to Hobart. If the planetary is low on oil check the drip cup for oil, it is supposed to catch any oil that escapes the seal.

Shaft does not rotate motor workink

My Bamix stopped working--no shaft movement and loud motor noise (think disuse caused motor lubricant to thicken). Propped it upside down and put drops of quality machine oil at seam where narrow blade shaft enters larger shaft (in center of curved guard). Probably not necessary, but added a few drops where large shaft enters handle. Oil slowly seeps in. Attached a blade to manually turn for oil distribution. Did this periodically over several hrs. Turned on low speed and it gradually returned to full speed capacity.

What kind of oil use this

I came across a manual for a Blakeslee f-40 60 80 and here is what it said. Hope this helps

Lubrication
The planetary and spiral-beveled gears are self-lubricated for life. The lubrication used is micromly grease and must be re-applied if gears are replaced. The transmission uses Mobil "delvic 1" synthetic oil which should last the normal life of the mixer. No lubrication is required for the auxiliary drive hub.
If lubrication is applied to the auxiliary hub a grease-like substance will possibly leak out causing damage to the product.
Applications of any lubrication will Void Warranty.

What type of gear lube should I use for my Hobart H600 mixer?

Hi, btperduell

below is a copy of an e-mail from Horartservice.com. I searched the web forhours for the correct oil and could not find any info so I e-mailed Hobart. The Planetary is a different part from the transmission andthe sight glass on a M802 is for the oil in the transmission. The answer that Hobart gave is not an NSF oil. Ineeded the oil for the planetary section on a model M802. Even the directionssay that it is normal for a drop of oil to occasionally drip from the seal. That is where the dough hook attaches. I am in the process of researching the oil and Exxon / Mobildoes make a NSF version. I just need to find somewhere I can buy less then a 55-gallondrum. The above mixer only uses 6 ounces. Take care and stay safe Thank you Mike Hobart E-mail follows ============================================================== Mike, Hobartuses "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. Hobart part #102973-13. This IS NOT a food grade oil. If you mixer is leaking you shouldhave it serviced. Service, parts , lubricants and information canbe obtained by contacting your local Hobartoffice in Pittsburgh@ (412) 788-5380. What type of grease can you use in your kitchen aid mixer, and also where can you buy it. Thank you.

KitchenAid uses Shell Darina #2 grease. If you're seeing oil, it's probably because the oil has separated, and should all be removed and repacked with new grease. It is available for sale for $4.20 per tube (14 oz). With that said, the official position from Kitchen Aid is:

Normally, your mixer has enough lubrication to last the lifetime of the appliance. If through some mishap ( mixer is tipped during shipping or storage) oil leaks from the drip ring or shaft area, it can be attended to at a local authorized KitchenAid repair shop. Losing a teaspoon or 2 is nothing to be concerned about, but if there's 1/4 cup or so lost, your mixer will need repair. You may feel free to contact us at Customer Service for the most up to date listing. Call 1-800-541-6390.

If you really want to get into this, a web page discussing this situation is posted here. Of course, disassembling the mixer will void your warranty.

I hope this helps. Please rate my reply "4 thumbs up" if you're completely happy with the info. Thanks!

Take the top cover off,in front of you is the brake.Turn the mixer on and you will see it spin (put it in 1st gear),stop the mixer.on the right side you will see a pin that catches the brake flange,if its worn you can replace it,if its not worn then the brake needs adjusting as it acts like a clutch.Let me know,im a hobart tech band repair these units often.

Hobart v1401 mixer slipping when in 1st gear.

Sounds like the planetary brake needs adjusting or the pin is worn.

I want to buy some oil to lubricate my hobart slicer .what to use

If you can, remoove the blade - very carefully. Clean everything where you can. It's a virtual trash holder under the blade. Where the blade mounts, you can use mineral oil to lubricate the bearing. If it makes any contact with food, it won't hurt you.
