Sharp AR-C150 Copier Logo

Our Sharp ARC150 seems to have a static problem. It keeps misfeeding and when I open it up to get the paper out it's always at the same place where the paper is stuck to the roll of film that moves it. I've tried anti-static cleaner but it hasn't helped. How do i fix it?

In a copier static is usually a good thing. The "roll of film" you are refering to is the transfer belt...it should be static !! and not cleaned with anti-static cleaner. The belt uses the static to hold the paper in place and transport it. Putting any type of solution on the belt will probably damage it and cause further issues - especially copy quality.
It could be that the belt is not moving at the correct speed due to maybe 1)worn/broken drive gears 2)drag caused by the cleaning blade. Or there could be a sensor that is miss-reading the timing of the paper reaching a certain point and then causes a jam. Is the paper in the trays set correctly to match the paper sizes and orientation it shows on the screen? Does it give you a jam code on the display? Does it jam from all the paper trays?

What is causing misfeeding?

Either the paper is slipping and not reaching the sensors at the right time. or a sensor flag is broken/missing/out/stuck and the device stops the paper thinking there's a jam. Clean all the paper feed rollers with a clean lint-free towel and water only. See if that will improve the grip of the rollers. If they appear shiny, replace the rollers. They are too worn out to continue working properly.

I have a paper jam and I can't locate the problem. I accidently loaded the printer with paper not knowing that several sheets had been stapled together. I removed the jammed paper but it still keeps...

  1. Turn the printer off and unplug the printer from the A/C outlet.
  2. Open the printer and check the paper path for a paper jam or misfeed.
  3. When the paper appears as crumpled or waded up, carefully remove all the jammed paper.
  4. When the paper appears to be angled incorrectly, it may be misfeeding through the printer, remove the sheet of paper.
    • Remove the paper stock and reinsert the paper, make sure the paper guides are adjusted correctly.
  5. Close the printer cover(s).
  6. Plug the printer into the A/C outlet.
  7. Turn the printer back on.
  8. Resend the print job.

It does not pick up the paper from the trays, it keep saying paper misfeeded.

The paper pick up fingers and rollers get smooth and polished with use and then slide on the paper. Clean the rollers and pick mechanisms with isopropyl alcohol to rejuvenate them and restore their grip on the paper. Do this as far along the paper path as you can get, using Q Tips where necessary and turn the rollers to clean their whole surfaces.

Photo's do not print. sometimes only 1/4 of the photo prints, sometimes nothing and it feeds more paper.

Paper may be moist. Summer humidity can cause these type of problems particularly with coated stocks.
Printers (the people) always "laid out" paper to dry before color runs as even from factory the would be sufficient moisture to cause bleeding and misfeeding.
Try to keep your stuff in a air condition room if possible during humid times.

Paper jam

What that sounds like is misfeeding.
Remove your paper tray and take a soapy cleaner, like formula 109 or fantastic and thoroughly clean the rollers.
If that helps and it statrs misfeeding in a day or two, you probably have slick rollers.
Watch inside the paper feed. Make sure the paper is going against the rollers then see if they just spin on the paper.
