My GE Profile ice maker hums when ice is being dispensed and stops when the ice flap stops. However, lately, the humming noise continues whether we are getting ice or not. Do I need to disconnect the ice maker or is there something else I can do to stop the annoying noise? Please help!!!!! DID U CHECK UR EVAPORATOR FAN AND LISTEN IF THE NOISE IS COMING FROM IT? COULD BE BROKEN OR IMPEEDED IMPELLER HITTING SOMETHING ON START UP THEN GOING INTO A HUM?
check your audio line in connection, either L or R signal line floating may also cause humming noise. Sub woofer usually very sensitive. If your audio input not connected, do you still hear humming noise? in actual you should not hear such noise, unless volume at max then it is possible to hear little.
You have a hub/wheel bearing going out. You need to jack up the vehicle on each side. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move it in/out at the top and bottom. If this does not work then roll the wheel as fast as you can and see if you can hear which one it is. Good Luck.
Almost certainly, the component called the "magnetron" has died. This is the valve (tube in the US) which actually generates the microwaves. The loud humming is the transformer that supplies the magnetron being overloaded and/or the magnetron itself.
If the rest of the appliance is OK and not too old, the magnetron can be replaced. If you aren't familiar with these appliances, you *must* get this done by someone who understands the dangers of messing with them - if you get it wrong, they can bite! In some countries, only qualified engineers can buy the spare parts.
In the UK, the part costs around £40 - £80, depending on the model.
If the appliance is more than around three years old, it may be a false economy to repair it as other parts may fail soon after the repair.
