Can I still get the remote that goes with the Cambridge Soundwork 88CD? Is the remote sepcific to that or would any Cambridge Soundwork remote work?

    I don't see how adds for trivoli's and 88's help this man get a remote. Fixya does not seem to be geared toward fixing. Just selling. I have not seen a straight answer yet on this forum. Let me repeat the question in case you missed it. Can you buy a remote for a Kloss 88cd?

Digital display goes dark from time-to-time...
Most likely its the digital display is burnin out, If your farmilar with electronics and soldering, you can just order the part and replace it yourself. If not shop around for a cheaper rrepair technician in your area.

CANNOTE GET RADIO MUSIC NO SOUND
i've just finished repairing one of these Model 88 cd, from Cambridge sound. It also had no audio. I found cracked solder connections on the audio amplifier IC on the amplifier board as well as an inremittent headphone jack on the front of the radio. Try it with headphones, if you get dound try to clean the jack with isopropyl alcohol. a couple of drops inside the jack then insert the headphone connector several times to move the relay inside. Good luck. took me about two hours to resolve this with limited information available.

Take it to a Tv repair shop to see they can do something, solder connections become bad, and may need a touch up.

My Cambridge SoundWorks 88CD is not working...no display, no sound, the CD doesn't spin. Any hints? Thank you.
A couple of possibilities- If there is no fuse holder on the rear of the box, it may not be user-replaceable but soldered onto an internal board. If it has blown, either there has been a component failure in the power supply that caused the fuse to fail or the supply is not starting up as it should, a problem caused by cheap capacitors in certain areas of the supply. Unless you have at least a multimeter, this is not a good choice as a DIY repair.

Dim display on Cambridge Soundworks 88CD
I can't find a manual for this but my guess would be there is a setting for the Display to dim it at all times unless you touch a control.

I have the same problem. It's not the cheapest solution, but Logitech Harmony remotes support the Model 88. I could not find it in cheaper Universal Remote manuals that I searched. The base model goes on sale for 50-60 at Amazon.
