New Archos 605 can't charge

You could contact Archos, but I gather their minimum cost for repair is $85. Plus shipping and parts.
A suitable hard drive would probably be around $100.
Amazon has a new Archos 7, 8gb wifi + 16GB microSD for around $200.
While the memory is smaller it is more rugged and better suited than a hard drive for a portable device.

Hi if the unit has been on charge that long it should be fully charged.
With charging supply connected what is the (CHG) green led doing. (on top of 605) Flashing---fully charged. Steady---charging.

check if all the wires are all well soldered in the little black box connector that plug in your archos

I was having a similar problem where my 160 gb Archos 605 would not hold a charge even after two days of being plugged in through an AC wall adapter. It worked fine for 5 months without a problem, but then all of the sudden it would not hold a charge even if the LED light was blinking green.

One thing that I found that makes it now hold a charge now is by letting is by plugging it in to a computer. I don't know why, but for some reason, now when I charge it through a computer usb as opposed to the wall adapter, it charges and holds a chrage for over 3 hours. So, maybe try to just let the thing charge through a computer.

I found that I have to leave my archos 605 powered on to get a full charge out of it, blinking light and all

How are you charging it??
are you using the dvr docking station??
is the charge light flashing or steady??

Press the on/off button down until the green light goes off. Than turn it back on again.

With USB mains charger it takes approx 18 hours for the first ever charge so I would hate to be using the usb to pc to do the same.
Once this initial charge is achieved though it will charge by usb to pc as you work even though it does ask "usb connection or Charge"

look i have the same problem it taks so mush time to charge
it and you can onliy play with it like in a 1:00 hour only what it worng
