Hooked it up but sound is very low. Has a ground

I have a JC Penney MCS series turntable I hooked it up but sound is very low. Has a ground screw on back ,what needs to go to it and where . I have it hooked up to the tape input as there is no phono port on my receiver. I also tried the aux port but the same outcome. I am thinking it has to do with the ground screw, but I see no ground screw on receiver to hook it to.

Output of cartridge is less than line level output. Pre amp that turntable. Your amp sounds like it was made after everything went line level.

Ground keeps low level static electricity down. TT outputs are unbalanced so the Amp and TT are grouned to each other anyway.

You nee phono preamps....price starting about 25 to thousand dollars...
then you can hook the preamps to the line in of your amplifier or receiver..(auxiliary, tape in, cd)
signal from turntable is different from tapedeck..turntable signal is weaker. it need preamps to match the line in of the receiver.
suggestion: get an old amplifier or receiver with phono input...these old original made in japan or usa etc sound great!

Lost remote for jc penney sterio mod#683-1938 am/fm/cassete/turntable/surround. need code to turn it on. if turned off by remote in standby mode and on/off switch will not over-ride. Intgrated into circuit...

Is this a "MCS" system from the "70's"? They stopped support in the mid "80's" I think, so all
you have for choices is a universal remote which
I doubt has a list of codes for MCS! May be another problem not letting it turn on.

Very low sound from old turntable

You need to run that black wire to ground, perhaps a screw on your electrical outlet. You also need a pre-amp with your turntable, I use the mcm 40-630 you can find it many places for sale.
