Canon zr100 died: no power

While watching our tapes on the tv, the camera suddenly went black on the tv, and white on the small screen. Now, it won't turn on (even with direct power) and it will not flash that the battery is charging. When we open it to eject the tape, it will not open.

I had this same problem where my camera wouldn't charge and wouldn't turn on. Getting a new battery didn't help either.

My camcorder did the same thing. There is no solution on this forum as to what the problem was.

If you have had the camera for a long time, it may have simply died. This may not help, but you could leave the camera on untill the battery loses all power, then try to turn it back on, and see if it works.

SOURCE: tape not loading

Chances are it is in need of a major cleaning. Usually by the time this happens the cleaning tape will do no good. A good internal cleaning is usually the only thing that will help it........Has it been droped? If it has then you could need repairs

No image on TV or in viewfinder when I playback the tape in 4yr old Canon ZR100 video camera

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Cannon zr100 digital video camera tape compartment will not retract and tells you to remove tape,, also tried other tapes.. What could be my problem?

This is caused by problems with the mechanism. There should be an indicator on the LCD screen when this happens. If the indicator shows a teardrop, it means the unit thinks it has moisture (dew sensor).
The most likely fault is a defective capstan motor, the motor that moves the tape through the camera. Time for a Canon service center.

Tape will not eject / Battery full

while the eject process is trying to happen remove the battery and replace it. keep initiating the eject process and removing the battery and it should finally eject. If you attempt to use the camera again put in a new tape so you don't lose a tape that contains footage you may want to save.

USB Port

To transfer video to your computer from the ZR100, you will need to connect the camera to the computer via the firewire interface. The ZR100 does not have a USB interface.
