Warped the Dispenser and Housing Shield Thawing the Waterline

I used a hairdryer to thaw the waterline on my GE GSL25JFTABS refrigerator and the plastic melted and warped. Because of this I've had to purchase a new funnel ice dispenser. A spring (funnel spring) fell off before I could see where it went and I can't locate where it went. I don't see any guides online to show where the spring goes on the funnel. Any suggestions?

If you take a look at this diagram, you should be able to see all the inner workings of that area and decide if you want to repair it. I think anyone with the most basic mechanical skills could easily handle this repair. See parts 62,63,67, etc. Could just be the spring is off or broken. SOURCE: frost buildup inside freezer door at ice dispenser

you are still not getting a seal on that flap. It sounds as if it may be warped. THe reason the frost and ice is building up is due to the flap not sealing there isn't any other reson for your problem. Good luck on your repairs

GE Mongram Model# ZISS420DRJSS replacing ice despenser flap

Hi,

You are correct, The door panel would need to be removed to access the dispenser. Be-careful of the ground wire and the waterline that is/will be exposed when you removed the panel. they are easily damaged if your in a rush when removing the panel. Remove all screws, start removing panel on hinge side first (thats where the waterline and ground wire is) then it will come off easy. Good luck

Ice maker waterline frozen

Occasionally these freeze up on many brands. Usually if the ice maker is not used much. There is a rubber tube that deposits water into the ice maker unit, Thaw it by warming it with your fingers. You can carefully use a hair dryer as well

Ice maker and water dispensor not working on GE profile model 26...could it just be a frozen line?

yes.........unless the waterline from the house hookup ie--saddlevalve is plugged follow the waterline from where it hooksup turn to close all the way!!! then turn it back on see what that does for you because if the saddlevalve is hooked on the bottom of the waterline it could have gotten plugged over time

Water dispenser doesn't work on ge hotpoint freezer

Here recently I have run into 2 of these units that do this and have found that the dispenser line is frozen in the freezer door. The way to test this is to remove the kick plate under the doors (It is easiest to open both doors to do this) Disconnect the union in the water line leading to the door by pushing in on the waterline and pulling in on the end of the fitting. When the line is apart, close the doors and push in on the paddle as to fill a cup with water. If you get water out of the line under the door then your line in your door is frozen and you will either need to replace your door or let the unit thaw for 24 hours with the doors open. Cheaper to thaw. If no water comes out under the door when paddle is pressed then you will need to replace the water valve as long as you have 120 volts at the valve when actuated.
