It seems like there's a problem with a component on the Power Supply of your TV or there's a problem with your Picture Tube. I don't recommend you working on TV's unless you know what you're doing since you can get badly shocked if you don't discharge the Ulter Cap on the Picture Tube. If you don't know what you're doing then I suggest you get it repaired by someone who knows what they're doing.
I have had on order since December 2007 the Akai replacement remote #WIR3500001-EQ01 the Akai TV/DVD combo model #CFTD2011. I called each month for 5 months, being told each time that it was on backorder. A few days ago, I received a letter in the mail stating that this remote is no longer made and is not available.
I too have tried universal remotes without any luck. If anyone has a resolution, it would be greatly appreciated.
