First it would seem as though the default setting may have all been changed. The NO SERVICE message is given because the machine menu setup is not able to comply with present hardware configuration. Such as the menu setup calling for the incoming fax to be forwarded to an email only you have not connected the machine to an internet router.

The most likely thing to do that will fix the fax not being automatically answered is this.

Check this menu setting. Press the <RESOLUTION RECEPTION MODE> Button (with no document in feeder) until AUTO appears in the display to set auto recieve faxes.

This will auto answer a fax after the set number of rings (different menue option). As someone may have changed this it can be from 2 to 5 rings. Note there is also a pseudo ring tone which can also be set although this will only ring on the machine itself.

This is in case the machine auto answers then finds the incming call is not a fax and so need to altert you to take the call.

Now this is a very complex machine so CAUTION when using in a doctors surgury. It is capable of BROADCASTING all the faxes to any other fax machine or email adresses either by design or the office 'meddler'.

You should set the SECURITY password option and keep a copy of this safe to avoid unauthorised access or changes which could then forward your faxes to unknown destinations.

You need to take a week off to read the manual as it is not easy to plough through.

Here is a link to the MANUAL also what is laughing called a 'setup guide'. My advice is to first disconnect the phone line, then go through each menu setting the DEFAULT value. Then try it, then change the setting to suit you. This is no ordinary fax machine.

http://www.manualsmania.com/model.php?model=6a539582aaef41608ed1fb531d872ebc5098af39

You will of course want to selct the English language GB version of those listed. Then enter the anti-spam code which will download the PDF documents.

Any problem with this such as the link disapearing then i will redo it.

As for the MEMORY FULL problem. This is not given a clear solution in the manual most probably due to fact that it offers the risk of loosing an important received fax without having a printed copy so is not a sensible thing to do.

However if you really need to do it and your machine is out of warranty. Ask a professional Electrician to try this:-

Disconnect from ALL cables ESPECIALLY THE POWER. MAINS POWER KILLS PEOPLE!

Leave it an hour then unscrew the case and look for the little battery that keeps the internal memory powered up similar to the one that keeps the date right in your PC.

Disconnect this for about an hour the put it all back together and you should be back to 'out the box'.

No responsibility accepted for any damage to you may do to yourself or the machine however so if in doubt about your capabilities do not do it - buy a new one.

When the fax machine rings it says no service. No faxes will come in that way. However when it rings if I pick up the reciever then press start and hang it back up the faxes will come in. It is frustrating because I work at a doctors office and can't always run to answer the fax. Please Help!

How to clear Memory?

If the memory is filled up when a fax is received ... when there's no paper, or it is jammed (so that it can't print) ... you can print the fax (in Memory, after putting in new paper, or fixing the jam) by pressing the START/MEMORY button. After it prints, the memory is cleared.

If the memory is filled up when you're scanning and storing a document into memory (to be fax out), press the START/MEMORY key to transmit the pages that's already in memory. After transmitting the content in memory, the memory will be cleared/emptied. You'll need to scan the remaining pages to transmit (as a separate fax)

SMTP server to use with Sharp fax machines (UX-B800SE and UX-D1200SE)Posted by...

<a href="http://www.smtp2go.com/blog/smtp-server-to-use-with-sharp-fax-machines-ux-b800se-and-ux-d1200se/">SMTP server to use with Sharp fax machines (UX-B800SE and UX-D1200SE)</a> <span>Posted by <a href="http://www.smtp2go.com/blog/author/admin/">mi6</a> on </span>August 19, 2009 - 4:06 am <span>Filed under <a href="http://www.smtp2go.com/blog/category/uncategorized/">Uncategorized</a></span> Some Sharp fax machines require a certain type of SMTP server in order to be able to send emails. SMTP2Go provides an SMTP server that authenticates senders based on their 'from' email address, meaning that it works with fax machines that are unable to send an SMTP username or password.<br /> Two examples of SMTP setup procedures for popular Sharp fax machines are below:<br /> Sharp UX-B800SE and UX-D1200SE Broadband Fax SMTP setup In the 'Network Settings' area, enter smtp2go.com as the SMTP server, and <b>UNCHECK</b> the box 'POP before SMTP'. Try entering either port 2525, 25, or 587 as the outgoing SMTP port. Then, make sure you are sending 'from' an email address that is registered with SMTP2Go.<br /> See a sample screenshot from the UX-B800SE fax below (click on it to enlarge):<br /> <br /> <p><a href="http://www.smtp2go.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/sharp_fax_ux-b800se_smtp_setup.gif"><img src="sharp_fax_ux-b800se_smtp_setup_small.jpg" /></a><br /> Please note that Gmail's SMTP server doesn't work, as it not only requires a username/password, but it also requires that SSL/TLS is used.<br /> Please note: some fax machines may still have a problem sending - if this is the case, use the IP address of 207.58.142.213 instead of smtp2go.com as the SMTP server.<br /> SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "SMTP server to use with Sharp fax machines (UX-B800SE and UX-D1200SE)", url: "http://www.smtp2go.com/blog/smtp-server-to-use-with-sharp-fax-machines-ux-b800se-and-ux-d1200se/" }); <span><a><span>ShareThis</span></a></span><br />

I HAVE A SHARP UX-A450 FAX MACHINE AND WANT TO EMPTY THE FAX MEMORY.

MEMORY IS FULL / SEE MANUAL (alternating messages)
The memory is full. You may have too many messages recorded in the answering machine. To erase messages, see below. This may occur during fax reception if too much data is received before the pages can be printed out. If faxes have been received to memory because printing is not possible (an additional message will indicate the problem), resolve the problem so that printing can continue (see Substitute Reception to Memory on page 66). If you are attempting to transmit from memory, see If the memory becomes full on page 57. If you are copying, see If MEMORY IS FULL appears on page 67.

Erasing received messages:
It is important to erase received messages after you listen to them to ensure
that the memory does not become full.
? Erasing all messages: To erase all messages, press FUNCTION, DELETE, and then START/MEMORY.
? Erasing a single message: To erase a single message, press DELETE while the message is being played.

If the memory becomes full while the document is being scanned, MEMORY
IS FULL and SEE MANUAL will alternately appear in the display.
? Press START / MEMORY if you want to transmit the pages which have been stored up to that point in memory. The remaining pages will be ejected from the feeder. After transmission, the memory will be cleared and you can transmit the remaining pages. You will also need to transmit the page which was being scanned when the memory filled up.
? Press STOP if you want to cancel the entire transmission.

UX-B800SE Fax

I had the same "Full Memory" problem & called Sharp. You need to unplug the fax, then hold (press down) on both the "Start/Memory" & the "Stop" buttons at the same time. While holding them down, plug the fax back in. After it's plugged in, you may need to press the start button again. That should clear it.
