The most likely solution to this problem is to go to the computer manufacturers website and find the drivers for your flash drive and install them.

After this, your flash drive should work fine.

The usb ports on my acer 5250-0650 do not work when a memory stick is installed.

Have the ports ever worked? Have you opened the computer icon to see if the flash drive is being detected- but maybe not auto-starting? Also, if a drive is inserted (Windows system), you ought to see the "safely remove hardware" icon appear on your taskbar, near the clock. Clicking on the icon ought to show you the drive by name & drive letter.

Lastly, right-click Computer>properties>device manager>expand disk drives>if your flash drive is shown here, highlight it & uninstall the device. Remove the flash drive, then reinsert it. Windows will reinstall the driver & this may allow it to recognize the drive again.

Let me know?

Cheers

What can i do? my jetFlash V85 is unknown

Connect your flash drive to your computer using an available USB port.

If your flash drive is not recognized, you'll usually receive an error that says "USB Device Not Recognized."

Click "Start" > "Control Panel" and open the system configuration by double clicking the "System" icon.

Navigate to the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button to open the Device Manager.

Click the "+" next to "Disk Drives" and locate your USB flash drive.

A question mark icon should be shown to the left of the label.

Right-click the device name and select "Uninstall."

Open the "Action" menu at the top of the Device Manager and select "Scan for hardware changes."

This will scan your PC for any new devices.

Because you uninstalled the flash drive, it will be detected as a new device and the drivers will be reinstalled.

Click "Start" > "My Computer" and look for your flash drive.

If this process was successful, your flash drive should now show up under My Computer as a storage disk.

If its listed as an unknown device

Then right click on your flash drive select rename

Hope this helps

My memory stick has stopped working, nothing shows up when I insert it into the computer...I need some of the files which are stored on it, do you know how I can fix it?

Files on a flash drive can be corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon and then click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flash drive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive you may need to format the flash drive, but you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive this program may help: -

My drive showing removable disk in the my computer.but can't acess anything.also nt able to format my drive.

Remove the USB flash drive from the USB port on your computer. Restart the computer and wait for the operating system to finish loading. Plug the flash drive back into the USB port and attempt to access it again in case the computer stopped recognizing the drive for some reason.

Transfer any files on the flash drive to the hard drive of your computer if the USB flash drive has any functionality at all.

Open the Start menu by clicking on the Windows icon on the bottom tool bar. Click on the "Control Panel" link. Scroll down through the list of available options and click on the icon labeled "Administrative Tools" that has an image of a box filled with check marks.

Find the Computer Management icon at the top of the window and click on it. Wait for a new window to appear on the screen and click on the "Continue" button to bring up the Computer Management window.

Locate the "Storage" entry on the left side of the Computer Management window. Click on the black box next to the entry to expand the menu. Click on the "Disk Management" icon that appears below the Storage entry.

Right-click the name of the the USB flash drive that appears at the center of the window. Click on the option labeled as "Format..." from the menu that will pop up. Select the "FAT16" option from the first drop-down menu and click on "Start" to format the flash drive.

Return to the Control Panel and click on the "Device Manager" icon. Scroll down to the entry labeled as "Universal Serial Bus Controllers." Right-click on the entry for your USB drive and choose "Update Driver." Wait for the latest USB driver to finish downloading and then attempt to use the flash drive again.

Usb flash drive icon changes into folder icon

This issue may have resulted from a virus infection on the machine the drive was plugged into.

You’ll need to delete the file autoruns.inf located on your flash drive.

By default, Windows hides this file, so before you can delete it you must make a couple of changes (you may reverse these after you’ve finished):

Open My Computer
Tools
Folder Options…
Click on the View tab
Under “Hidden files and folder” choose “Show hidden files and folders”
Remove the tick from “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
OK

Go back to My Computer and click on your flash drive. If you can’t open it that way, try right clicking on it and choose “Explore.”

Find the autoruns.inf file, right click on it and choose “Delete.” Confirm “Yes.”

Unplug and re-plug the drive in. You should be back to normal.

Hope that helps.

What operating system are you using? Should work with XP and Vista. Go to windows explorer and click on C drive, click photos folder, select required photo, click and drag icon to the Firefly icon and release mouse button. File should be copied to jump drive.

Flash Drive problem

Try opening the 'computer' icon - normally shows as an icon on your desktop or in start menu then you will hopefully see the flash drive listed along with C Drive, CD Drive etc. Double click or right click and open - this should let you see and open individual files on the flash.
