Your expansion box is a CAP (central answer position) module. I will assume you are using the same jack as before. The line cord, from phone to jack should be 6 conductor (count pins on end). A short line cord runs from back of phone to back of CAP (plugs on CAP are labelled) then the longer cord runs from CAP to the wall jack.
Never heard of DNS. Somebody made a programming change from that phone in the system and the system is updating all the phones. When you press Update it show the ext's being updated, if it is that phone then unplug it for a few seconds should do the trick.
If your phone system has 6.1 software or up then yes,the tech or vendor can program it for you. If you know how to program look under Config/Lines for Ring Type.
1. You can name the lines, for example (Line 1, Line 2) - or - (5551234, 5551235). You can also name the sets (phones), so when Joe calls Mary, Joe's phone will display "Calling Mary", and Mary's phone will display "Joe calling".
2. Press the line button for the line in use and the display will show which extension is using that line. There could be a stck button on a phone that is tying up the lines. When you figure out which extension is causing the problem, try unplugging it to see if that clears the problem (it should). Then get the trouoble phone repaired. Good Luck!
That refers to a device connected to a port which is not supposed to be. Port 107 may have a fax machine or computer connected to a Norstar digital telephone port. Disconnect the suspect equipment immediately. Good Luck!
I'm not going to steal anybody else's answer, so go to the home page and search for feature 983. That should take you to answers given by others.
Or, try http://recognizer.org/norstar/ and, if you have a Startalk you can find the answer on how to reset your password. I don't know if it also works on Call Pilots or not.
