The .exp format is a commercial format while .art is a BERNINA-specific embroidery format. Embroidery designs in .art format keep their fancy fill effects even after rescaling the designs whereas the effects may be lost when editing .exp format files on the machine.

Try lifting it past the point it would normally rest at, in the up position. Then if the message comes up touch okay. It sould recalibrate the unit when its lifted. It may be able to be adjusted, mostly its a replacement. The switch is at the back of the machine in above the presser foot. You can see if the back cover would come off.
Ours did the same thing. They said it was the circuit board for embroidery that went bad. The one for sewing is still good. They wanted $200 to $300 to replace it.
