If you can use software to encapsulate the VOB file(s) in an ISO, it will play them in order.

Have movies on my harddrive but whn I try to burn them they wont play in the DVD player

- It might be that your DVD does not have a compatible video codec

- you actually invest on video codec which converts any video file to .VOB

- There is a software that converts any video file format (example *.avi, *.mp4, *.mpg ) to .VOB

- This should be taken as personal use because we do have laws againts anti piracy (sorry, just a friendly advice)

How to rip a DVD easily

DVDs contain folders and files which are specially developed for DVD players and not for computers.
If you explore the DVD on your computer, you see on most DVDs the folders Video_TS and Audio_TS. The folder Audio_TS is on video DVDs empty. This folders is normally used for audio DVDs.
If you open the folder Video_TS you see that the extensions of the files in it are .vob, .ifo and .bup. The .vob files are actually the .mpeg or video files and only these files contain video. The .ifo files contain information like scenes and time. The .bup files are backup files of the .ifo files. These files aren't relevant for computers.
If you double click a .vob file and you do not have any DVD player installed on your computer, the computer says that it can not open the file. But there is a trick to do let your computer play this file.
The trick to play this file is to copy the .vob files to a folder on your hard drive. The next thing you need to do is to change the file extension into .mpg.
Do not change the name of the file but be sure you change the extension of it!
If you copy the .vob file and you change the extension in .mpg, there is no guarantee that it works. This depends on the codecs you have installed on your computer. But often this trick will work.
So what is the solution if the above doesn't work? The following I will show you how to rip a dvd.
Step 1: Download best free dvd ripper and running it. click "Add". It supplies four ways to load files:
Step 2: Select output Profile
You can select one output format you want to rip a DVD as below.
Step 3: Edit the Video
If you want to customize the video, Wondersahre DVD Ripper offers a powerful video editing function, including cropping video, setting the video effects, trimming movie, even customizing personal watermark.
Step 4: Start to rip a DVD
After you select the output format and edit the video(option), all you need to do is clicking the "Start" button. Then you can get a cup of coffee and come back later to check if the conversion is finished. Furthermore, this DVD Ripper even offers the option to automaticlly shut down the computer when the conversion completed.
Now, you must get the idear how to rip a dvd. Will not play vob files from usb

Hello!!

You need to check or verify the V.O.B format requirements of your TV and your V.O.B format on your U.S.B if it is match to each other.

If the V.O.B format of the U.S.B is not match on format requirements of your TV try to convert it.Depends on what kind of format needed.

Or review this manual on how to do it. http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-UN-55B7100-TVs-manual/id/23300bh439/t/2/

Just click the direct link the shown above using your mouse.
After that,You have the access to download the manuals or review the table of contents for more information.

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you and good luck.

Can not play vod file on computer oops , I meant VOB files on my DVD movie, or why did MS media player fail, as all do.(OOBE)

I assume you mean VOB. I have not heard of a VOD file...

If you have gotten your hands on a VOB file somehow, chances are they have been copied/extracted from a DVD. VOB stands for DVD Video Object and is the core file of a DVD containing the actual movie data, an MPEG movie stream and the supported audio.
To play the VOB files, you need to have a DVD player that supports VOB format. However, if you have the Windows Media Player (version 12 or higher) or VLC Media Player, it is good enough to play the file. Note that you will see a prompt telling you that it is an unsupported format, don't worry about it and just play it anyways. It will play just fine.
If you want to obtain the VOB file from a DVD for some reason, just open the DVD in Windows Explorer instead of playing it through a media player. The VOB file would most likely be under the VIDEO_TS folder. Some other files that you will also see in the folder are IFO and BUP. The IFO files are the information files containing meta data about the DVD and instructions for the DVD player on how to handle the disc. The BUP file is simply a backup copy of IFO files.
If you want to convert VOB file to AVI or a similar format, aviNET is a great tool to do that

Just install VLC player. That is a free media player, light and supports most formats, including the VOB files.

Problem in playing .vob files

Hi there,
I can play .vob files with a cool media player called VLC player, which plays everything I throw at it. I recommend you download it from here:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

and when you install it, set the File Associations to play everything with VLC, that'll let you double click on a .vob file and play it automatically.
VLC has a much lighter 'footprint' than Windows Media Player, or Nero or many DVD players, and has amazing codec-support already included.
If the .vob files are encrypted, then maybe that is slowing down your laptop, but that is not the only reason for this to happen.
If it still restarts automatically, you may have picked up malware from downloaded movies, and need to download Spybot and scan and immunize your hard drive. Spybot is completely free. Trust me, i don't like paying for things :)
It's also possible that you need to clean up your registry and your drive with a free program called ncleaner. you can find that here:
http://www.nkprods.com/ncleaner/

I suspect you will be successful with VLC player, though. Enjoy your movies :)

Lacie Silverscreen 500Gb USB2.0

You can not see DVDs in "unpacked" mode (at least not satisfactory), you have to have them in iso format. The firmware is not a problem, the new firmware brings support for more HD drives only.

I reccomend connecting you computer directly to your tv, depending on which mac you have. DVI or vga. I'm sure the manufacterer does as well. The files maybe in a codec your tv does not compute.
