I cant remember how to fill the bobbin with thread :(

You could stop the bobbin filling process just before the bobbin is "full."
Most machines have a finger that rides against the area being filled; maybe this is bent?

In the box put the model number (example 6412) & click search

You should not have both, bobbin and top thread filled with elastic, it may screw up your timing. And you are talking major expense to fix. Use regular thread in your bobbin.

It sounds like your path for your thread around the guide is not correct, read your maual, page 10 and see that you have to cross over your thread to give the right tension, then slide your bobbin over to touch the lever. Also, remember to hold the tail of the thread for a few rotations before you let go. If, you do not have a manual, go to singerco.com and download one for free.

If I remember, cotton the reel pin, thread to the left and round the pretension and back to the winder, bobbin on the winder, push the winder on, slacken the stop motion, press on the foot control, if youy have a self wind bobbin let me know.

Disengage the clutch by holding the outside of the fly wheel and turning the inner knob of the wheel towards you.
You need to take the thread from the spool across to an eyelet on top left, then back to the bobbin winder, up through a hole in the top of the bobbin and hold the thread tail. Flick the bobbin across against the stopper. Now press the presser foot or knee control to start the motor. Hold the thread tail until youve got coverage across the bobbin enough to hold the start, then stop winding and cut the thread tail with scissors. Now continue winding but put the handle of your scissors on top of the thread spool to stop it bouncing and ensure your thread winds smoothly and under tension.

Watch the bobbin fill and give the thread a nudge to fill top and bottom as well as the middle evenly, you want a nice even wind. Fill to 3/4 and stop, flick bobbin back off the stopper, then cut the thread. Remember to re-engage the clutch by reversing the first step.



This is a lovely heirloom Elna machine - you need to thread the bobbin as the manual describes and get the thread into the tension spring. Please read the manual information on oiling too, this machine needs to be oiled on the red spot locations every time you use it according to the manual, use good quality clear sewing machine oil for this purpose.

If you have Increased the upper thread tension on your machine, try these solutions.

* Decrease your bobbin tension if your sewing machine allows you to adjust it. Consult your manual.

* Re-thread your bobbin, It may be threaded incorrectly.

* Reinsert your bobbin, It may be inserted incorrectly.

* Change your thread. If your upper thread and bobbin threads are different types, try using the same thread for both.

If I remember correctly this machine has a little arm in the bobbin case area. You will need to open the slide plate, move that arm towards the middle of the bobbin. Thread your machine as normal, take the thread going through the needle eye and wrap it around the thumb screw a couple times, then start "sewing" your bobbin should begin filling, once started, you can release the thread wrapped around the thumbscrew. Once filled, you simply close the slide plate and that moves the arm back into place and start sewing.

turn your thread 3 turns to the right, clockwise,
then pass theend of the thread, under the coming thread and give it another 3 turns to the right.
For better results, always remove old thread from bobbin before filling it up.
