My Proform 8.5 personal fitness trainer will no longer work. when I attach the magnetic key, it gives its normal beep followed by a stuttering series of beeps that are a slightly lower tone. The treadmill won't respond to any of the controls, it beeps the stuttering tone at me each time I push one. I've tried unplugging and replugging, I've tried the reset switch, both with and without the key attached. I've tried cleaning both the key and the recepter area to no avail. I've never had this issue with the treadmill before. I've tried to reboot also no luck. Called Proform they were no help

Hello there, It seems that you have a stuck button or a problem with the ifit card area. Yes I know you probably dont use it but just listen. If you have the demo card for the unit try putting the demo card into the ifit slot and press it in and out a couple of times. This will sometimes correct this problem. If that does not correct it then you will need to replace the console or possibly disconnect the ifit section from the console itself. Either way you will need to remove the console.
If more info is needed please leave me a note here and I will get back to you asap.
Good Luck! Tim

Testimonial: "Tim, Thank you very much for your help. I already had the console apart so I just unplugged the ifit section and it works perfect. Randy"

I had the same problem with a ProForm 8.5 treadmill. I opened the console, located the wire harness on the iFit and disconnect it from the main board. After carefully putting it all back together, it started right up. Hopefully this remedied the problem for good.

Wow. I've been at this for hours and that's what exactly it was. I finally disconnected the ifit part of it and now it works great.

I have a proform cardio trainer 820. All of a sudden the tension is high no matter what setting I put it on. Much higher than I normally use. Is this a motor problem and is so how hard is it to replace?

It is either the resistance motor or the cable/activating arm is struggling.

The resistance is so high because the magnets that create the distance are very close to the steel flywheel.

You will want to open the machine up to view this area. The resistance motor and fly wheel are in very close proximity to each other.

To decrease the resistance the motor is activating a hinge to move the magnets further away from the flywheel. The magnets are typically behind a plastic cover inside the flywheel and will not be able to access them.

Open the machine up and investigate. The system is very basic and playing with it will give some insight.

Try YouTube channel: fitness repair help. Won’t be your exact machine in the video, but it will give great impression

ProForm 675 elliptical is very hard to peddle

use the next steps:
Step 1

Use your flathead screwdriver to pry off the plate on the left side of the elliptical trainer.
Step 2

Look for the magnet and reed switch. These elements will be roughly the same size, and the reed switch should have a series of wires connected to it.
Step 3

Loosen the screw in the reed switch using your screwdriver. Move the reed switch by hand until it sits 1/8 inch from the magnet, then re-tighten the screw.
Step 4

Test the unit to see if the display and heart rate monitor are working properly. If not, move the reed switch slightly so it is closer or farther from the magnet, then try the machine again. Once you've found the correct location for the switch, tighten the screw to hold the reed switch in place.
Step 5

Replace the cover plate by snapping it into position by hand

I have a 680 proform trainer and the motor is very very loud. what do I need to do to fix it?

Hi,
Try to put some oil in bearing of motor. For oiling the motor bearing you have to open the top cover. Be sure to remove the power before opening the treadmill. Normally bearing makes noise may be because of insufficient lubrication Or the bearing itself is faulty. Check is the lubricating reduces the noise or not. if not then you have to call for a repair man to change the bearing or replace the motor. un the following link you can fin the motor for your treadmill. Be sure that the power is remove before opening. because all treadmill's motor control circuits are live if there is power.

I have the pro-form 980 cs and the screen displays a bright blue color but no words on the display. It was working fine, but a storm over the weekend knocked out our electrical power. It has not worked...

Dear Friend:
Thank you by your request.

I will try to help you inmediately:

nstructions Things You'll Need
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Allen wrenches (included with the Proform 980 and Proform 980CS)
  1. Power
    • 1 Ensure that the treadmill is plugged into a grounded outlet using the correct surge suppressor. Use a UL 1449 suppressor listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS). It must be rated for 15 amps and 120 volts AC. Secure the services of an electrician if the outlet is not grounded, or move the Proform treadmill near a grounded outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
    • 2 Insert the safety key fully into the display. Treadmills with keys are designed not to turn on without the safety key in place.
    • 3 Find the circuit breaker on the front of the frame and make sure it is not tripped. The circuit breaker is a vertical switch on the 98CS and a horizontal switch on the 980 Interactive Trainer. Press it to the "Reset" position, which will be labeled.
    Reed Switch
    • 1 Unplug the treadmill and remove the safety key.
    • 2 Move the upright base of the treadmill down with the help of another person and lift the uprights so that you can get to the underside of the console. Use a Phillips screwdriver with at least a 5-inch shaft to remove the screws. There are five hood screws on the 980 Interactive trainer and four screws on the 980CS.
    • 3 Remove the motor hood to get to the small reed switch by pivoting the hood off the frame. Find the reed switch and magnet, which are on the left side of the pulley for both models.
    • 4 Turn the pulley with your hand until the reed switch aligns with the magnet. There should be 1/8-inch gap between the two. Fix the distance so that it is 1/8 inch by loosening the reed switch screw and sliding it to the correct distance. Tighten the screw.
    • 5 Reverse the directions to put the hood back on and the treadmill upright in the original position.
    Optic Sensor
    • 1 Unplug the treadmill, take out the key and remove the hood cover.
    • 2 Locate the optic disc and optic sensors. The optic disc is the only circular disc set between two optic sensors.
    • 3 Spin the disc with your hand. It must spin without hitting either of the sensors. Loosen the adjustment bolts that hold the switches in place with the included Allen wrench and adjust them to ensure they do not interfere with the discs' ability to spin. Tighten the bolts and replace the hood

Thank you in advance, sincerely. Blessing.
