Trying to get logitech harmony900 to control bose lifestyle 28 s1

Trying to get logitech harmony 900 to control my bose lifestyle 28 series 1. I've changed the settings on the bose so it should receive IR but it's not responding. I can't see anything that looks like an IR receiver so I wondered if it actually had one. Does anyone know where it's supposed to be?

SOURCE: my bose pmcii lcd remote control does not receive a signal from a bose lifestyle 48 receiver

Have you tried using the remote antenna supplied with the Bose system? This connects to the "Remote antenna" socket on the rear of the media centre and is made up of 2 parts: a shielded section (black in colour) that runs past any sources of interference - mains or signal cables, other electronics products - and the unshielded antenna (clear plastic covered copper wire) that must be fully extended vertically to act as an aerial. Position this away from sources of interference and as close to the second room as possible (Bose do a longer version, free of charge in some countries....)
The remotes only have a range of up to 20metres - this will drop the more walls it passes through and the thicker the walls. Any interference can affect this - radio transmitting equipment (WiFi, video sender, but especially products transmitting on the same frequency - 27MHz or 40MHz, e.g wirless thermostats or alarm systems....) or products with poorly shielded transformers. Experiment with swtiching off other electical equipment (including lights if they have a transformer - e.g. halogen spot lamps). If you identify a source, can you move it away.....?

SOURCE: Bose Lifestyle V20 Error 180

OK talked with Bose just a minute ago and they were able to correct the issue.

We disabled the power cord from the back of the media console (where the HDMI cables connect) and left it off for a minute or two.

Powered the media console back on and it is working as expected.

Was told by the Bose tech that the common reason for this issue is due to the use of the HDMI cables that have a propritary security protocol that is used between the media console and the component it is attached to (ie TV, Cable/Sat, BluRay ...ect).

I asked if there was a BIOS upgrade if it was indeed a "handshaking" issue and was told there was not one (yet).

If one becomes available, it will be shipped via mail on a CD\DVD that can be used in a CD\DVD player that is connected to the media console using the HDMI cable.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: bose acoustimass 25 subwoofer has no power

Honestly speaking you should probably not work on this unit yourself: "There are no user serviceable parts inside"

Even if you are an accomplished Electrical Engineer Bose will not provide the required schematics to troubleshoot and repair this unit.

Are you still undaunted . . . then if the case is the original LS-25 series, there is a hidden catch at the end of the cover furthest from the input connectors that needs to be rotated (until a plastic tab is sticking out), which you can do with a flat bladed screw driver, and you also need to remove a few screws from the bay where all of the connectors reside. Remove the two knobs from the side of the cover. Then hit the case with your fist at the far end (plastic tab) and the cover should then pop off. You may have to hit it hard, with an upward motion.

Note there is not going to be much you can do to fix this beyond replacing the fuse. (Note that the fuse may be soldered in.) The bass amplifier is op-amp based with discrete class G output stage and the twiddler amps are monolithics with discrete class G circuitry shared between several channels.

The power transformer has a thermal fuse in it as well which is not replaceable. If you play the unit loudly for long periods of time and it is not adequately ventilated it is possible for the thermal fuse to open - if this is the case you will definitely need to send it in for service.

When plugged in there are hazardous voltages present on the top PC board where the power connector is located, whether or not the unit is turned on.

Power switching is via a triac controlled by whichever front end you have CD-5? 12V should be present on the mini plug (tip I think, but might be ring) when the music center is on.

There is also offset detection circuitry that will latch the unit off should any output have more than a volt or so of offset.

SOURCE: bose lifestyle 28 will not come on?

The Bose Lifestyle System has two power connection. One is the adaptor for the media center/DVD and the other one is the bass module/ subwoofer. Both has physical indicators showing that power is present. If your pwoer adaptor is ok, then the media center display should show "BOSE LIFESTYLE SYSTEMS" on startup. The bass module power module should be OK when you see a green blinking or steady linght underneath.

If only the media center/DVD has no display then there is something wrong with your pwer adaptor and should be sent for repair.

Hope I have helped you

Can't hook up my bose system to my logitech harmony remote

Hi,

From what I found on Giigle searches, it appears you need to buy a converter. Here is one of the links I found where someone gave a review on the remote and is in the same boat as you. But then I found this on Youtube that might help you. This link shows how to set up Logitech Harmony One with Bose Lifestyle 28. I don't know if this is the remote you have but maybe if you follow the steps, it might work.

This next link is the review, see the 2nd review where they talk about needing a converter.

Harmony 900 to control Bose Lifestyle problem.

Press the system button on the Lifestyle remote control. Move right to see a preview of the remote control. Press the down button to move into the submenus. Go down to IR Control. Select "on" System receives IR commands from another remote that has been taught to operate this system. Press exit and take a breath and try your Harmony remote. It should work. I had the same problem and this fixed it after hours of screwing around. Good Luck

I am trying to figure out how to connect my blu ray and HDTV to my Bose lifestyle 28 and also have a HD cable box. The Lifestyle 28 has no HDMI inputs and was purchsed in early 2002. I believe it is a type...

Only one can be digital. TV preferably since you probably watch more tv than dvds. use the analog output from the bluray to the analog in on the lifestyle 28 and optical for TV
