Everytime i download things i wont show up. it shows up in the box that says show it downloading but when it is done downloading it just disappears like it was never downloaded even after i scanned the whole computer for the file. the only option that i have on for the downloading process is "show items being downloaded" and "save every item in the download file". those are the only options that i have on.

Sorry, went to go to a new line, and it uploaded my comment.

I have used a lot of download programs through the years, and currently I like EagleGet. Major Geeks is a site I like that doesn't have phone download links, or a confusing array of ads that look like the download link. Here's EagleGet:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/eagleget.html

That said, if you download files in FireFox, there is a down-arrow to the right of the address bar (at / near the top). When you click on that arrow, it shows the three most recent downloads. When your download is displayed, right-click it; and choose the second-choice 'Open Containing Folder'. A new explorer window will open, with your downloaded file highlighted.

If you use Chrome, your downloads appear at the bottom, and you can right click them there to go straight to the download folder.

Though I don't like Internet Explorer, after you have downloaded a file, a bar appears at the bottom, and depending on your version of Windows, either 'Open Folder' is an option to click on, or there is supposed to be a down arrow to the right of 'Open', and that will give you the option to see it in it's current folder.

All the best to you,
Kerry H

Personally, I would not go to someone's personal site to download files, unless it is a friend's site, or the author's site (meaning the program developer).

When I download a program or file, it shows the total download but then it disappears and no trace of a download is found. Any idea?

depending of your browser if you are use mozilla firefox, safari, etc you must restart the browser without ADD-on, and try again if the download now appear. If does o.k if doesnot. you must pass the anti-malware very deep , because some maware toobar or other software is impeding to download . Use the anti-virus for internet TOO, very important.God bless you

Hi, When I download some file I get a msg at the upper left corner saying download completed (in green) and a blank screed named "download. How can I prevent from this screen from showing up? Thanks

This download window can not exactly be disabled. It is part of safari and shows up to show you your downloads. Problem with this is that a lot of the downloads on a mac disappear from this window as soon as they finish downloading. If you were to download a larger file you would notice that it shows the download while it is being downloaded.
That being said, there is a way to have this window close after a certain delay. SafariStand is an application that should be able to help you with this problem. It does some other things as well you might find interesting. Give it a try to fix your issue though.

Items i download wont show up after its done downloadin. It will show up in the download box but when it is done downloading it will just disappear like if it was never downloaded. The only downloading...

I am not sure if you are referring to torrent files which are just reference links to the actual file you are downloading. If you are referring to the actual downloaded files it is most likely that they are stored in another location other than in my documents/my downloads. the location that you want your downloads to be stored can easily be changed. Xp will save it to the last location you asked it to so if you saved it in my documents it will be there, if you save it in the temp it will be there, if you want to know for definate then just download something and when says save it will bring up the location it is saving it to..if on the other hand instead of hitting save you hit run then it will save it to the temp folder.

Dektop icons doesnt show up! cant open control panel!

Sounds like something viral to me. If you are able to connect to the Internet I would suggest downloading and running a tool called combofix. Information on how to use it and links to download are here. I've used this on several XP systems to get rid of some nasty stuff, but never had to try it on Vista yet. If the trouble is not from a virus but just because something else has thoroughly screwed up the registry, you might have to restore your system.

What web browser are you using(i.e: firefox or IE)? I havn't had the chance to pick up a copy of Vista but I read that there is a download folder where all files downloaded are kept the path is: C:\users\your name\downloads). Please let me know if everything worked out.

My Sansa wont connect

Try downloading the MEDIA MONKEY. Its better than windows media player and itune. It automatically detects any mp3 players and you can synch your e280 without any problem. Whether you are using vista or xp the media monkey is way better than windows media player.
